I think they included it just to indicate, "Yeah, he was partying over the weekend."

good point, but it also seems to indicate that he has a lack of respect for other individuals, and no problem trampling on other people's personal space

Not taking joy out of it, and it's not like he got a drive by and was shot and killed. If he was acting appropriately and got jumped, yeah sucks for him. If he was acting how the article indicates, he deserves to get his. It probably is premature to say, though, so you're right there.

...but if he was acting like a jag-off, spraying people with champagne and/or referring to himself in the third person, he deserved every second of the beat down.

I hate Javon Walker now just as much as anyone...BUT. It sounds like he was beaten up and robbed, that isn't anything to cheer about. Yeah he made a bad choice earlier in the weekend. Doesn't mean we should be happy that this happened to him.
