EA is getting sued b/c they signed a deal w/ the NFLPA and no other game can use the real nfl player names.... I hope these dudes win this case... but EA has more money than they do

The guys won't win, because there really isn't anything to sue about. Just some people who want their game back.
For one, NFL is a private organization that can lease its players, etc. I mean, its like suing Nike because of the Jordan shoes. |

Even if EA may be able to finance their defense well, opening that market up would be incredibly lucrative for competitors like 2K Sports. I can only hope that EA loses because Madden has turned into nothing but a roster update.

Last year EA threatend to sue many people that were offering custom covers to their games, just some photo-shopped pics that they had made by request and were NOT selling. It was a really cool idea, once it caught on EA started shutting down their sites and sent letters stating that they would sue if it continued. Now this year the NCAA game is coming out in multiple covers.

I haven't bought a new Madden game since 2005. It always makes me laugh to turn Plummer, T. Bell, Lelie, and Watts into HOF players.

Madden went to sh*t as soon as EA got the exclusive license.

Madden 93 is still the best game ever. Play the 85 Bears and throw the circle routs to Sweatness and it was a TD every time.

I liked Madden 05 and NFL 2K5. I had them both. I still buy Madden each year, although I probably shouldn't if I want change to happen - meh. I have fun with Madden for about a month until the glitches and problems hit a point where the game isn't even fun anymore. Last year, once people learned how to make Randy Moss launch himself up to a 6 foot vertical while Champ Bailey made a semi circle around him in confusion; I was done. Not to mention those who used the wonderful elusive back weapon to have Brian Westbrook juke Champ and Jarvis Moss to the ground simultaneously while he ducked under Nate Webster causing him to go over his back in an animation I could only compare with a Triple H-back body drop. To compound matters I had to watch as Westbrook stiffed-armed John Lynch to the ground in a highlight that would've made SportsCenter's top 10 plays for the year, funny enough my friend didn't even press the stiff arm button - the computer did it on its own. Best of all, this crap doesn't happen just once a game - no, no, no. We're talking about dealing with this every play! And yet, I continue to play...

Well, surprisingly for me being a Madden fan, I did not like '05. I know a lot of Madden fans really liked this one. My fav was '03. I traded it in the 2nd day for 2K5 and loved it. I only went back to Madden because of the monopoly. I have been playing Madden for 6 years on PS2. I finally got a PS3 and bought '08 for $26. The first few games I played were an adjustment, and I really didn't like it.Now that I've played a little more, its not so bad. Compared to PS2 Maddens, I think it stinks. I'm still gonna get '09 though. I'm just too much of a football fanatic to play any other football game. And yeah, the CPU does a lot of weird **** in this game. I kinda feel like I don't have enough control over what I'm trying to do. Its just kinda awkward. Hope they fix this in '09. |

Kind of like when you have beaten the LT on the inside and the computer makes your guy spin outside for no reason and back into the block. That one is my personal favorite.

I don't know what people expected. They have no accountability and they have motive to make the game better. They just rehash the same game with crappy gimmicks. No MOCap, the physics are garbage. It doesn't play real, it plays arcadey. It's crap. The one thing I like is the Franchise mode. That's like playing sim-owner. But even then the AI of the fans is weird. They need to focus less on side games and work on creating a realistic football emulator.

if my 16 year old kid who doesn't give a rats ass about football can beat me with Peyton Manning 75-65 with 5 min quarters, there's something wrong with the game.

I just can't believe that the NFL can make more money selling one exclusive license then possibly two or three. Can't believe I'm saying this about ESPN but I miss NFL 2k. Madden sucks. |
