COULD THE BRONCOS BAG BENSON?
Posted by Mike Florio on June 9, 2008, 5:41 p.m. Earlier this afternoon, we mentioned the Cowboys and Bucs as two of the teams that could make a waiver claim on former Bears running back Cedric Benson. But what about the Broncos? Coach Mike Shanahan is no stranger to second-hand players who are talented yet troubled. Sometimes, the gamble works out. More often than not, it doesn’t. On the heels of the team’s decision to get rid of Travis Henry, there’s a potential need for Benson, notwithstanding the recent addition of Michael Pittman. In our view, whether the Broncos kick the tires on Benson will provide a glimpse into Shanahan’s mindset as to whether he regards his position currently to be in jeopardy. If he makes a claim for Benson, then we’ll conclude that Shanny is the same-old Coach Kevlar, undeterred by the fact that his butt is on the hot seat in part for wasting so much of owner Pat Bowlen’s money. If Shanahan backs off from Benson, then we’ll conclude that Shanahan realizes that he could be in trouble. I really love the, Does your mom know your a queer part. 1. Yes she does 2. No I have not told her yet. |

Dude, if we released Katnik, there's no way Benson makes the team.

Interesting rumor with absolutely no evidence Florio has thrown out there to try and make himself look like a football guru yet again.

So, there doesn't seem to be any reports from the Broncos that they are interested in Benson, but PFT is linking them to Benson. They just make up the news over there. I could understand if it was at least a rumor, but they just made this one up, and then took a shot at Shanahan. Like I've asked many times, why does anybody even read that tabloid?

Denver likes to run the football. That FA running back can run with a football. Done deal. And then if your Florio and you can add the little bad character Shanahan insult on top, everything is sunshine. |

Thats using an awefully big brush to paint with dont you think. I mean there are a ton of good reasons why someone might purchase a tabloid. Like the time I was the lead story and had my picture on the front page. FRONT Page! I had to pick up a copy to show the grandkids someday.

HAHA why are they basing Shanahan's own thoughts/fears about job security on whether or not he'll pick up an underacheiving runner that cant stay out of trouble? That just makes no sense. They are insinuating that Shanahan has a huge hard on for Bensen and is possibly afraid of making a move? Jeez, those site is pathetic.

I like how he proves Shanny's job is in jeopardy:
1. If Shanny takes him, Shanny's job is in jeopardy and he doesn't care 2. If Shanny doesn't take him is because his job is in jeopardy. Screw the premise, lets just lead with the conclusion. |

Makes total sense. Cut one troubled running back and pick up another troubled running back with less talent and ability.
Brilliant! |
