Androgynous Illuminati Fashion

The fashion world is becoming increasingly blatant with it's "Illuminati" symbolism lately, this set for D Mag was literally titled 'Illuminati', taken by photographer Antonella Arismendi with a couple of male models (Alex Nestor and Yamil Castiglione) their similar styles of hair with opposite colours [black/white] plays into their duality obsession (androgyny is also, the combining of the two opposite genders [male/female]). The Eye in the Pyramid "Illuminati" motif drawn on these stereotypical looking male models (male models always seem to look even more androgynous, expressionless and devoid of personality than female models, they always seem to be ugly too). As well as the standard "Illuminati" symbol of the eye in the pyramid, the masks, androgyny, the more general bondage themes (chain[mail] shirt thing/black leather/etc) and the native american headdress are worth noting too.

Government Swine Flu Advisor On Vaccine Maker Payroll
July 27th, 2009

Via: Infowars:

Many people seem genuinely baffled that western governments are hyping the arrival of a swine flu pandemic as if it’s the greatest threat to humanity since the bubonic plague, despite the relatively low number of deaths from the virus, unaware that the pharmaceutical industry has been intimately joined at the hip with the state for decades.

Another illustration of that fact is the revelation that one of the UK government’s top advisors on swine flu also happens to be a sitting board member of GlaxoSmithKline, the company selling dangerous and untested swine flu vaccines, as well as anti-viral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza, to the NHS.

“Professor Sir Roy Anderson sits on the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), a 20-strong task force drawing up the action plan for the virus. Yet he also holds a £116,000-a-year post on the board of GlaxoSmithKline,” reports the Daily Mail.

We also learn that Anderson was “one of the first UK experts to call the outbreak a pandemic,” and has been busy on radio and TV pushing the effectiveness of anti-virals to fight swine flu, without telling listeners that he was on the GSK payroll.

Many say if they don't find a Vaccine by November that 40% of America will have the virus.

Nerve cells have natural resistance to HIV

Neurons can protect themselves against infection with HIV, new research has demonstrated. They owe their hardiness to a protein called FEZ-1, made uniquely by neurons, and which appears to lock out the virus.

The finding raises the possibility of new treatments to thwart HIV by using gene therapy or drugs to activate production of the same protein in cells other than neurons – especially the white blood cells most vulnerable to infection.

Mojgan Naghavi of University College Dublin, Ireland, along with her colleagues Juliane Haedicke and Craig Brown, established the protective effects of FEZ-1 by blocking production of the protein in human neurons.

When they did this, the neurons became vulnerable to infection. Likewise, they successfully blocked the usual infections in other types of brain cells, such as microglia, by engineering them to manufacture FEZ-1.

Diver finds ruins of ancient city

(ANSA) - Squillace, July 24 - An amateur scuba diver has discovered what may be the ruins of an ancient city off the coast of Calabria, a local town council said Friday.

Alessandro Ciliberto, an architect with a passion for scuba diving, discovered a group of stone blocks around 3-4 metres under water while he was diving 15 metres from the shore near the town of Squillace on Calabria's east coast.

Craig Venter: Programming algae to pump out oil

Genome pioneer Craig Venter has teamed up with Exxon Mobil to turn living algae into mini oil wells. How will they do it?

Algae that can turn carbon dioxide back into fossil fuel - it sounds too good to be true. How is this going to work?

Algae use carbon dioxide to generate a number of oil molecules, via photosynthesis, as a way of storing energy. People have been trying to make them overproduce the oil and store it. We're changing the algae's gene structure to get them to produce hydrocarbons similar to those that come out of the ground and to trick them into pumping these hydrocarbons out instead of accumulating them. As other groups get CO2 sequestration techniques going, we'd like to take that CO2 and get the algae to convert it back into oil. The aim is to prevent it from further increasing carbon in the atmosphere.

How do you get from algae oil to oil you can put in a car or jet engine?

The next stage is to take the algae's biocrude, put it into Exxon Mobil's existing refineries, and try to make the same products that you get from oil that comes out of the ground. So the goal is to make gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel out of the same hydrocarbons we use now - just from a different source. Instead of pulling the carbon out of the ground we're pulling it out of the atmosphere.

The girl with the "all seeing eye"

Nothing to do with the Illuminati but the name being attached to an apparently unique medical anomaly and a testament to the amazing adaptability of the human brain.

A girl born with only half a brain can only see with one eye but somehow her brain has rewired itself so that one eye provides full vision.

Artificial brain in 10 years, apocalypse soon after?

This week at the TED Global conference, Henry Markram, director of the Blue Brain Project, revealed that he and his team in Switzerland are aiming to build a functioning, artificial human brain within the next 10 years.

The team started out a few years ago by attempting to create a fully functioning artificial rat brain using the IBM supercomputer, Blue Gene. The thought was if they could successfully replicate a rat's brain, they would then leverage their knowledge to do the same with a human one.

When they began their experiment, the digital rat brain only fired neurons when prodded by a simulated electrical current. Recently, however, the neurons have begun spontaneously organizing themselves into a more complex pattern.

According to the scientists, this is the beginning of the self-organizing neurological patterns that eventually, in more complex mammal brains, become personality.

Markram thinks that in 10 years, they'll either have an artificial human brain that has consciousness or they'll know that consciousness is more than just a neurological pattern. If they do succeed, Markram says they'll bring the brain to TED to speak.

Transparent Aluminum Is ‘New State Of Matter’

ScienceDaily (July 27, 2009) — Oxford scientists have created a transparent form of aluminium by bombarding the metal with the world’s most powerful soft X-ray laser. ‘Transparent aluminium’ previously only existed in science fiction, featuring in the movie Star Trek IV, but the real material is an exotic new state of matter with implications for planetary science and nuclear fusion.

http://atlasobscura.com/

Welcome to the Atlas Obscura, a compendium of this age's wonders, curiosities, and esoterica.

The Atlas Obscura is a collaborative project with the goal of cataloging all of the singular, eccentric, bizarre, fantastical, and strange out-of-the-way places that get left out of traditional travel guidebooks and are ignored by the average tourist.

If you're looking for miniature cities, glass flowers, books bound in human skin, gigantic flaming holes in the ground, phallological museums, bone churches, balancing pagodas, or homes built entirely out of paper, the Atlas Obscura is where you'll find them.

At right: Welcome to Tokyo's newest — and perhaps shortest-lived — tourist attraction, a 20-meter robot standing in a park, overlooking the harbor of the world's manga metropolis.

The lifesize, plastic replica of a robot from Gundam, opened on
July 11, 2009 and will be closed to the public on August 31st. It is part of the celebrations for Gundam's 30th anniversary.
