Default Brandon Marshall update

I didn't see this posted.......From Rotoworld:

"Brandon Marshall made his first catch this week since gashing his right forearm on March 22.

It was a one-handed grab with his left hand, so it doesn't really count. Marshall is apparently still on schedule to be medically cleared June 22. He's already able to write with his right hand, which is very promising.Source: Denver Post"

IMO, this is incredibly great news.....the fact that he can squeeze a pen/pencil is a VERY good sign, considering that no one was/is really sure of the extent of the nerve damage.....

Greek said Marshall can now piss with his Johnson in his right hand and he only sprinkles a little on the seat. That's way ahead of pace.

I am under the belief that if he is capable of holding a pen that his fine motor skills are fine in his arm, meaning no real nerve damage. If he can grip an ordinary pen or pencil then all he will need to do is get himself up to speed using that hand to catch. Getting his instincts with the ball back is all that may pose a problem.
I wouldn't be surprised if when he is cleared to catch if the team didn't just have him catching easy balls from a trainer for a few days before they have him trying to catch bullets from Jay.

I'm genuinely interested in your take, Doc... should we read anything into him being able to write with that hand? Do you think that's a signal that it's healing well or ?

BMarsh seemed to be in good spirits at Fan Fair. He was pumping up the crowd and signing autographs. We'll have to see what happens the first time he tries to catch a Jay Cutler fastball.

I don't believe the hype either Dr.

Bmarsh's strength was his YAC. I just can't see him being able to stiff arm a DB with a fragile nerve system. Having had a cut nerve I can tell you it feels like needles being shoved into your body where the nerve damage is. It's going to take him several years to fully recover if he's lucky. There is a reason we added a stable full of new WRs this offseason.

My opinion, based on the limited information available to me reguarding his injury.... and my experience with similar injuries... is that Brandon's arm/hand function will be as good as it will ever get 1 year after injury... and he will never get back to "100%." I fully expect Brandon to have serious problems this year. I would be suprised to see him playing at all this year. I would not be suprised if he required more surgery this year. Again, its an opinion based purely on speculation. I hope I'm wrong.

I second that after having nerve and tendon damage in my left arm. Mine was significantly damaged as in no movement possible below damaged area. Obviously his is much less severe and probably has the best docs involved but my arm was never the same some 18 years later even.

I wish this team some good luck this year. Anybody have any extra rabbit foots or four leaf clovers to pass around ?

I'm not ready to hear that ****, Dr. B! I am in denial about the Marshall situation. Nope...I refuse to believe it. He's young and strong. He will be fine...I hope...please God!

I hear you! Nobody could bring the beast down all year except a damn burger wrapper!

He has got to be fine! The team is absolutely dependent on that arm... damn burger wrapper... WE NEED HIM! HE HAS TO BE OKAY!

Edit : Further thinking about the injury - we will have a stale offense, which means another average at best season if he doesn't recover fully.

I'm going to pretend I didn't see this thread. Brandon is writing and he is going to be 100% baby.

He may be "fine", but not the elite WR most hoped he would be. Goes to show: immature horseplay has a price.......

Well, not having personally examined his case, I dont think that your speculation should hold much value.

I think that as a med student or general practicioner or whatever your specialty is (if you are what you say you are) that your opinion is of little consequence.

I dont mean it personally, but if you are actually a doctor, you know exactly where Im coming from.

You would be the first practicioner that I have ever met who risked libel or put themselves at risk by offering opinions on cases you havent actually looked at.

Again, nothing personal, but this type of behavior isnt typical of a professional physician.

Thanks, Doc... not exactly what the homer in me would have liked to hear, but it's a realistic (as opposed to overly-optimistic) assessment.

That is light.

The medical board would bring down the weight on that.

You dont risk your profession for some goobers on a message board.

There is absolutely nothing liable about what he said. In fact, doctors frequently give opinions couched in the manner he said it. Now I know that you may be bothered by what he said, but he did stated with a caveat, meaning it is not set in stone. Now regarding your comments and the law, llama, I think it is you that may be "accused" of talking outside the realm of expertise.
