I threw out any credibility on this one when I saw the old Tampa Bay helmets ranked #2. The Tampa Bay helmets were gay back when gay was gay.
While I'm no Raider fan, I have to admit their helmets and color scheme tells you everything you want to know about them. They are bad people. They don't care if you know they are bad people. They aren't ashamed of being bad people. In fact, they like being bad people. Their scouts are actually impressed by players with prison records. If your rap sheet is completely clean, you don't fit what it is to be a Raider. Hell, even their placekicker commits date rapes. Their helmets express that perfectly. |

The list is incedibly lame but I do like the Barnstormers' helmet. It's my favorite AFL helmet logo, and one of my favorite football helmet logos period.

Yeah, it loses all credibility when it has the old Bucs helmet ranked #2.
Just use it to wipe your ass with, its better used that way. |

I agree with the Steelers as number one.
They don't confuse $#it. "We don't need cheerleaders. We don't need stickers on both sides. We don't need to throw the ball...unless we want to. We need meat, and beer, and someone from here hitting someone from there hard enough to help him forget how to reproduce..." |

I actually like the Bucs old colors and logo....especially the old orange home jerseys. Nothing "gay" about that at all. You want gay? Anything with "pewter" in it is gay to me.
#1 helmet for me is the late, lamented dark blue D helmet (as seen here in B-Love's basement). Here's hoping Bowlen someday smartens up and retruns to it. Last edited by Hogan11; 06-07-2008 at 12:19 PM.. |

This list has zero cred without the Chiefs helmet. It is football helmet perfection.

I'll say one thing about the Chefs helmet and uni's...they keep them as is, they never change them for the quick marketing buck and , to me, that's honorable.

The Denver Dynamite catch an honorable mention, that's pretty obscure and not PC at all anymore. You'd never see dynamite on a helmet today.

Another classic is the Crimson Tide helmet, with the player's # on the right side only.

As much as it makes me cringe, I have to agree. I like the Chiefs' helmet, but honestly I think the Chargers in the baby blues have the best Uni/helmet combo in the league.

Love pretty much all versions of the Redskins helmuts, from the spear version to the R with the feathers version to the indian head version. The native americans will likely force the indian head off the helmut in a few years so it should be interesting to see the next one.
I got to give the Chiefs some credit also, if anyone ever changes that helmut they are an idiot. No way you put a stripe on that helmut. Raiders is also timeless and they should never change it. New Broncos is much better than the old one. But old school Bolts still is the best one out there. Crazy guys for modernizing the throwback powder blues. Some people just can't think straight. |
