Default Adjustment Period: A nice little blurb in the Rocky

ADJUSTMENT PERIOD: Whether the personnel didn't fit the scheme, uncertainty about roles, or both, Denver's defense is coming off a down year, after which Bob Slowik was installed as coordinator.

The new staff took great pains during the past two weeks of quarterback camp, making sure the base concepts were understood by players old and new.

The terminology has changed this offseason but the message has remained steady: Worry about assignments and let the system do the work.

"The coaches are trying to simplify as much as possible and building a foundation," new middle linebacker Niko Koutouvides said. "Then we can add nuts and bolts like blitzes, different coverages and game plans. But, in my opinion, they're very much stressing the 'team' part of the defense."

The highlighted sentence is the part that made me happy. That's pretty much what we didn't have last year. A defense that played together.

It's this kind of thinking that has been lacking in recent years IMO

Agree. It's basic fundamentals, or lack thereof, that killed us against the run last year.

Total revamping of just about everything but corners and Jay. Thruout both lines (injuries), LB/s, WR's, Henry's allready hobbled...Even the kicking game is new.

Change is good after a poor display last year, I think we're in the right direction.

If Kansas City gets 25 sacks this season, I'll be surprised.
