According to Mike Shanahan, Ryan Clady will be the starter at LT from day one (http://www.rockymountainnews.com/new...ady-first-pick). With Clady penciled in the left side, who starts at RT?
Erik Pears - Started all 16 games at RT last season and started half of the 2006 season at LT. The consensus opinion of fans and experts is that he has struggled mightily, but he does have experience as the incumbent starter at RT. Chris Kuper - Started most of last season at LG to mostly positive feedback, and was planned to move to LT before Clady's selection. Kuper has some collegiate OT experience and brings tremendous strength to the position, but it remains to be seen how he can handle a transition from LG to RT in the NFL. Ryan Harris - Last years 3rd round pick saw minimal playing time last season and has had back problems that reared their head last season. Drafted as a natural LT, his ability to play RT is unknown but he appears to have the size to hold up at the spot. Last edited by montrose; 04-27-2008 at 01:03 AM.. |

I think "other" and we draft one tomorrow. I'll say we get John Greco. I'd love to trade up for Anthony Collins.

Really? I thought Shanny might move Clady to RT to start with. Interesting. I hope Clady is up for it.

Kuper is nasty enough to play RT. The guy wants to play, he'll take any role. I like Kuper, he attacks and enjoys it.

It's going to take a lot of soap to wash the Boise State stink off of Clady...

I like the sound of Clady, Kuper, Nalen, Holland, Harris. Could be an awesome line if Harris is as good as the coaches have raved and Clady lives up to expectations.

I'm not ready to give up on harris yet - being a 3rd-round pick gives you a little more time to develop...I'm concerned about his injury issues though, so we'll have to wait and see.
Anyway, picking so early in a draft so loaded with quality OTs means you can't pass up the opportunity to take that franchise tackle when it falls to you. I Don't think that they were ever banking on Harris to be our next starting LT but with Clady, if he doesn't hold down the position for years to come, he'll be considered a bust. I think they want Harris to start at RT, and Kuper to be their all-round backup utility guy, who will maybe see a bit of relief action at Tackle but ultimately end up starting at guard in a season or two when either Hamilton retires or Nalen retires and Hamilton moves accross to replace him. Pears could be history unless Harris really does have serious long-term health issues. |

I voted for Kuper. I like his technique and has a great combo of power and agility. What's his body type though? Does he have long enough arms, hand size?

Seems from the posts here and everywhere else that Kuper will be at either LG or RT.
Either sounds good to me......at LG, he and Clady shore up Cutler's blind side.....at RT, he might be our best option, though. Depends on how Harris performs in TC. |
