RB Stewart headed to Denver?

Following up on a note from last week, RB Jonathan Stewart continues to be a hot topic in scouting circles as he moves back up the board following turf toe surgery in March. Stewart's surgery combined with several nagging injuries during his college career sent his stock sliding, but now that he has healed and tested for teams again it is clear most are comfortable that his toe is not an issue.

Denver (No. 12) and Carolina seem to have the most interest among teams in the top 20, and we're told the chances are good that the Broncos will take Stewart if their favorite offensive tackle prospect -- Chris Williams -- is off the board. Denver has always felt it could find running backs in the later rounds and turn them into 1,000-yard rushers in its zone blocking system, but that philosophy has not worked out in recent years and the Broncos obviously think Stewart would be a nice fit in their offense.

I wouldnt be against it. Like i said, either he or Mendenhall would work out here IF our OT is gone that we are wanting.

i'd be okay with as well...

i still prefer mendenhall but stewart is nice also...

plus he can return kickoffs...

but i don't foresee williams being off the board at #12...

so according to this article williams should be the guy...

who knows what's gonna happen...

i have less confidence in knowing who we are going to pick in the 1st round more-so this year than any other year that i can remember...

Exactly, there was way too much information in that for it to be true. Since when does anyone know Denvers wish list at this point? Its the worldwide leader in misinformation at it again.

I would rather take Mendenhall at 12 over Stewart if we go RB....but think both are very good prospects.

That is assuming Mendenhall is there at 12. I look for some leapfrogging to be done on draft day.

Maybe this one is a reverse smokescreen to make other teams think we're not going after those two, but then we do.

Doubtful. theres no reason to smokescreen a desire for Stewart when there really arent any teams looking at him AHEAD of DEN, and DEN has other areas of need. If Williams is gone, Lex,you might be disappointed. Not the end of the world though.

Theres a difference though between Denver intentionally leaking wrong information and someone reporting something thats incorrect. Im not saying Denver is leaking wrong information as much as Im questioning the accuracy of their information. If it would have been, say, Adam Schefter with this nugget, Id be more inclined to believe it. Im just not buying into anything that someone who is affiliated with E!SPN says. Remember that E!SPN falsely reported on the friday before the draft last year that Denver was trading up to 10.

Too true. I would be suprised if DEN took him anyways.

Maybe it's a triple smokescreen with Denver trying to make teams believe we are going after Stewart and doing this just so people suspect a single smokescreen and then .. oh nevermind.

Why do we need a smokescreen, if denver wants to we can pick him, it is not like anyone in front of us will be selecting Stewart.

Stewart sounds like a guy we could trade down to get. Say if Clady, Stewart, Williams, and Mendenhall are all on the board at 12--doesn't trading down make sense?
