Foxworth signs on for '08
By Mike Klis The Denver Post Even if there wasn't an offer sheet from another team, restricted free agency boosted the value of Domonique Foxworth. The Broncos' cornerback signed his tender this weekend that will pay him a one-year, $927,000 salary for the 2008 season, or roughly double what he made in 2007. "Not bad at all. I'll take it," Foxworth said. If he does, Foxworth might have even greater leverage as an unrestricted free agent after this season. A third-round draft pick in 2005, Foxworth has started 18 games in his three seasons with the Broncos. As a restricted free agent, Foxworth had the chance to sign with another team providing that team was willing to surrender a third-round draft pick to the Broncos. No team was would make that trade by the time the restricted free agency period expired Friday. http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_8997195 |

He is gone next year...
I wouldn't be suprised to see us spend a fairly high pick on a CB. If Cason falls to 42, maybe we'll look his way. He would be a decent Nickel and has some return ability. |

Maybe. I think Denver will sign either him or Paymah to a long term deal next offseason.

the guy will never be more than a nickel guy. can he man up for a game or two? sure. but long term, he would be a liability at either of the two starting cb spots. no need to break the bank on this guy, as 10 like him come out every year.

He may be gone after this year, but I really doubt that we pick a CB. We have plenty of depth there, and we have severe needs in other places. We'd pick 2 safeties before we draft a CB right now.

Why dont we stop worrying about DB"s for a second and worry about lineman rushing the QB so DB's don't have to cover WRs for 10 minutes at a time

If it comes down to a choice, I want Foxworth over Paymah, but I want one of them. I certainly don't want a CB before round 6 this year.

Im happy about this signing but agree with the other guy. Put him at his natural position and not at Safety.

He hasn't yet, I believe he's the only remaining RFA with Foxy and Hamza having signed there's. He's already been training at Dove Valley, so I imagine he'll be signing his before too long - he would've gotten an offer by now otherwise.

Foxworth isn't very good I don't know why anyone would want him to start. He's IMO an avg dback. He hasn't showed much to warrant people calling for him over Bly. Bly made some mistakes but he is loads better then foxworthless.

Quote:
Maybe not to start but he is definitely worthy enough for the nickel which is pretty much what he was drafted for. He came in the league at the same time as Darrent who was taken a round before him so he was already most likely going to play nickle which i thought he did a pretty admirable job when in there. In his limited time on the field and considering he got moved to safety he still has 173 tackles, 24 pass deflections, 3 Ints, and 2 forced fumbles. Thats not bad for a guy who hardly gets to play his natural position or even sees the field on a regular basis. Every corner makes mistakes even the mighty Bailey so that arguement is pointless. And considering we have already made excuses for Bailey and Bly because of Dline problems why should it be any different for a backup guy like Foxworth? Oh yea, it isnt. |

Bly is one of the team's most underrated players IMO. He came in with such hype, people we're trying to hold him to Champ's standards but in reality - he played very well for a CB with no pass-rush. Bly's a gambler, he's always going to play that way. I doubt he'll be on the team long-term, but I'd take him over a bunch of other CB's that I think are vastly overrated. If the pass-rush improves (or more likely, Slowik blitzes a lot more) Bly's going to have a bunch of chances to make some plays.
