Default What is Happening to America

While we continue to funnel our wealth into Iraq, this is what is happening at home. And this is only one front: Infrastructure. Look at the recommended expenditure figure to make things right again.

Just because of the condition of our roads, we waste 5.7 billion gallons of gas per year.

And this report card was for 2005.

What is happening is poor leadership. Leadership is decided by the RNC and the DNC. The leadership of the RNC and the DNC is decided by special interests.

Therefore, money provided to the DNC and RNC rules the US Congress. Therefore, whoever has the most money makes the rules.

I'm wondering if my vote is worth a bean these days.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Tell him what he has won Johnny. You have won the right to sit back and be told what is better for you by candidates who evidently have little to no idea what they are doing.

Vote 3rd party just to send a big F you to the dems and repubs!

Much of our infrastructure is funded and maintained at the state or local level - so what the federal government does isn't terribly relevant.

What about matching funds for infrastructure, I can't believe in this day of a huge, bloated, debt crippled federal government you would say they are irrelevant. It was federal spending that got us out of the last depression what investor will fund the federal government deficit spending to 'work program' our way out of this one. Do you think we can continue to borrow from China and other foreign countries to spend our way out of this? No, because we will take them down to. This will be our first historical "One World' event, global depression.

Perhaps what baja and Spider would prefer is that every single bit of infrastructure in this country be built, owned, and maintained by the federal government. Every road, dam, bridge, airport, water system, sewer system, railroad, school, and so on.

Would that "fix" things?

Ya and I'll sure China and OPEC will loan the federal government all the money needed to do this never mind the dollar is in free fall. Ah all kidding aside the state governments will swoop and fix everything so no problem here folks sure the federal government is a bad loan risk but what does it matter they are irrelevant, just ask W*GS.

The state of the federal government's finances isn't all-encompassing when it comes to infrastructure issues.

Note also that the 2001 report (long before the Iraq War) gave the nation's infrastructure a "D+". What was the problem then?
