Default FADERPROOF'S preseason top 25 rankings

I know it's mid-June but sports magazines and websites are already coming out with their top 25, so it's time for me to take care of mine.

1.) Georgia - returning top QB Matthew Stafford along with RB Knowshon Moreno and was absolutely on a roll the ast half of the season, hopefully momentum carries over.

2.) USC - If it weren't for a shaky QB situation, they would be #1. Pete Carroll has a plethora of RB's that he should utilize to take focus of the passing game, and their D led by Rey Muauluga and Taylor Mays should be a very good.

3.) Ohio State - Returning an entire offense along with #1 overall recruit Terrelle Pryor. Defense should be very good as well with potential 1st round picks Malcolm Jenkins and James Laurenaitis leading the way.

4.) Oklahoma - he running game, no matter who it is, will be there for the Sooners along with their good D, and sophomore QB Sam Bradford should keep this team in the title hunt.

5.) West Virginia - Noel Devine picks up where Steve Slaton left off, add in Pat White at QB and this offense should be near unstppable.

6.) LSU - they lost a lot, but can't drop the champs too far away from the #1 spot. QB will be the issue, Matt Flynn is graduated and Ryan Perriloux was kicked off the team.

7.) Missouri - Chase Daniel will still be the key to this offense, returning 15 starters as well should make for a good season with high expectations.

8.) Clemson - the duo at RB is a tandem that you dont want to mess with, Spillar and Davis are a complement to each other and on defense they have 8 of 11 coming back this year.

9.) Auburn - War Eagle is ready to make a big time push in the SEC after being down ever since the 2003 season(Campbell, Williams, Brown were all there then.) Going more spread offense this year from what I hear, and they have the personnel to pull it off.

10.) Texas - Colt McCoy leads a Texas team that failed to meet expectations last year(national championship). They had to make big comebacks in a few games in order to win 10 games last year, need a better performance on the field but they do have the talent.

11.) Florida - Tim Tebow is still there along with Percy Harvin and new recruit Will Hill to make this offense electric. Questions are all on defense, must do a better job otherwise it will be another 2-3 loss season for them.

12.) Kansas - Not sure what to think of this team, they could come out and meet expectations or they could flop, all depends on Todd Reesing this year.

13.) Illinois - Ron Zook keeps on hitting the big recruits and improving the offense, Juice Williams is proving to be a game-changer and the star of this team.

14.) Arizona State - Dennis Erickson is the main reason why ASU is up this high, good college coach and should have his team ready for a Pac-10 title run.

15.) Tennessee - the vols look to Jonathan Crompton to lead an offense that was riddled last year by timely mistakes that cost them games.

16.) Wisconsin - The RB's just keep on flowing for the badgers, but the question will be the QB situation, which might let teams key on the run and stalemate this offense.

17.) BYU - lets hear it for the 1st non bcs school on the list. BYU has the talent to run the table this year and gain that coveted at large BCS bid.

18.) South Florida - who wouldve thought that USF would be the 2nd florida school on the list? Program is building big time and they have a lot of talent coming back from last year.

19.) Virginia Tech - Beamer ball will always be there along with a solid D, offense is the big time question though.

20.) Texas Tech - the red raiders can make some noise this year, the offense is there as it always seems to be, if the D can make some stops out there then they could be right up there in the big 12 south.

21.) Oregon - despite losing dennis dixon, the ducks are the 3rd best team in the Pac-10 and their offense always seems to produce.

22.) Florida State - the noles will rely on a good strong defense to get through the ACC this year.

23.) Wake Forest - Riley Skinner has played well and the demon deacons football program is on the rise, look for them to compete in the acc this year.

24.) Alabama - could this be the year that Saban gets the crimson tide rolling?

25.) Michigan - they've lost about everything on offense and are transitioning to a spread offense, but they'll get their wins and rich rodriguez's system will be the reason.

UVA's best player last year was drafted by the chiefs, I hold a bias against them for that otherwise they would be #1.

I don't have any strong feelings about who should be Top 10 right now. I'm just really interested to see how this season plays out in terms of dominant/undefeated teams. Last year was so strange in that we had a 2-loss national champion, I would have to guess we'll finish with at least one perfect team this year. OU, SC, and Georgia seem as likely candidates to me as anyone right now.

On a personal level the Big XII north holds a ton of question marks for me. Aside from my Huskers being in the middle of a major transition (which can only improve upon last years joke...I hope), I am really interested to see if Misery and KU can live up to their new expectations.

If I had to guess, I'd say the Tigers will be pretty good, but with a brutal schedule (South Florida, OU, Texas, Texas Tech) KU could easily be looking at a 4+ loss season. Honestly, though, that should still put them in contention for 2nd in the division.

Agreed as far as the big 12 north, Chase Daniel and Todd Reesing have a lot to hold onto while CU and NU are climbing up the ladder, all depends on how both those QB's perform.

and of the 3 teams you mentioned as potential national champs, OU plays thats Big 12 south schedule, Georgia plays in the SEC, and while the PAC-10 might be down this year, USC still hosts Ohio State so anything can happen again and I wouldnt be surprised to see WVU win it all this year

There is just a couple of teams that I would yank.

-South Florida, BYU, Wake, Texas Tech, FSU, and Zook's team.

-I like Georgia at number 1.

-Clemson, OU, WVU, Michigan, and ASU are ranked too high. (Yes I know Michigan is 25th )

why would you yank BYU and Illinois(Zook's team)? Just curious but BYU is pretty stacked this year with a bunch of returning starters and has a good chance to run the table this year and Illinois went to the Rose Bowl last year and aside from Rashard Mendenhall and J Leman, are returning the core of their team which includes QB Juice Williams, who is an absolute playmaker out there.

And Michigan is ranked too high, figured I'd throw them a bone though and watch them get their ass kicked this year.

I have a gut feeling that Tenn may be the dark horse in the SEC this year, kinda how Ark and Kentucky snuck up on a few teams last year. Ohio St unless they win out will be in the Rose, one loss won't get them in this year, no way will the "computer" allow them a 3rd shot.

No pre-season ranking is complete without Notre Dame.

I was tempted considering they were 2 wins away from a BCS game last year in the minds of the media.

Georgia is the best team on paper, but their schedule is brutal.

Clemson has a national title run friendly schedule. Just wonder if Tommy Bowden can finally get them over the hump and win an ACC title.

BYU just doesn't have the schedule to be in the top 25. And while Illinois probably does, it's hard to give the Big Ten mid-tier teams a top 25 ranking.

BYU's toughest game is against a middle of the road UCLA team and that is home, Washington might be tough and Air Force and Utah are the only 2 other teams that could get them.

Illinois is not a mid-tier big 10 team, you don't make the Rose Bowl by mediocrity. They'll be no worse than 3rd in the conference this year and that will get them in the top 25, Big 10 always has more than 2 teams in it.

Honestly, trying not to sound too bias, but I do like OU's chances this year. I mean, their schedule looks fairly easy on paper with only the Washington, Texas and Texas A&M games proving to be somewhat of a challenge to them.
I also really like Sam Bradford and think he could be something special.

That's not biased at all, Oklahoma has a hell of a chance to play for the title this year. Not too take anything away from what Adrian Peterson did, but Patrick Allen stepped in that offense and while he's not Peterson, he produced rather well for the Sooners.

OU will always be able to run the ball effectively, and now Sam Bradford at QB gives them a lot of versatility in that offense with the vertical game as well, OU is gonna be a tough team this year.

Since they don't have to play CU (atleast not until the Big 12 Championship game) they could go on a serious run.
