Default Draft Updates from many mocks

I just looked at a bunch of mock drafts that have been updated since 4/11/08. Here is what they say the Broncos are drafting by totals:

1. Ryan Clady OT - 11
2. Chris Williams OT - 11
3. Branden Albert G-OT - 6
4. Devin Thomas WR - 3
5. DeSean Jackson WR -2
6. Keith Rivers LB - 2

and a bunch with 1 pick:

Kentwan Balmer DT
Sam Baker OT
Darren McFadden RB like he's gonna be there at 12,
Jeff Otah OT
Aqib Talib CD
Rashard Mendenhall RB

Looks about right in my opinion but im really hating ESPN right now. They are saying that Mendenhall is the best back in the draft because of the character issues surrounding McFadden. And the more clips they show of Mendenhall running the more tempting it is becoming for me as a fan of that kid. MUST RESIST!!!!! lmao

Don't resist it. Embrace it! Mendenhall is more likely the 1st pick than nearly any other player. Gotta go with the "value" here, ya know? I can see Mendenhall in 1, and Manningham in 2, maybe a DT, but I go with the WR. An OT will likely be picked in the fourth along with a DT......

I'm happy to see Rivers falling off with MeSean. There are rumors that Jackson could fall out of the first round.

I'd still like Albert. I would actually not mind them taking a corner. I think that would be good with Bly getting older and Foxworth potentially leaving. I still hope for a trade down and then picking up Jerod Mayo or some other value guy.

Do you honestly think we'd draft another corner at 12 when we already have over $100m invested in our starters, plus the fact we just took the $9m option up on Dre

With Bailey signing and Williams moving outside, I don't know why they'd take Rivers. Mayo would make more sense at LB if they traded down. Possible - maybe if they did that they feel they can get good RB and T value in the 2nd to 4th rounds.

Until/if Robertson is acquired, DT is a pressing need. Even w/ him they should take another DT in the first 4 rounds.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was a corner who can return kicks like McKelvin.

They can get Lofton in the 2nd round to play the middle if it's LB they are wanting.

give me mendenhall and then a RT I havent really looked at alot of RT prospects. On another thread guys were talking about the BC LT but it sounded like most liked him as a RT with kuper moving over and harris already there. I like what we have done as far as WR this off season we seem to like guys who will either hit or get cut not a bad strategy imho but to get back on topic the more I watch mendenhall the more I prey that we draft him. That guy would upgrade our offence which would also help the D as in less time on the field. from what I have seen and read he is decent in picking up the blitz as well as catching the ball. he has great vision and seems to move laterally just as well as he does vertically strong between the tackles and has that extra gear. its almost like I am describing all of our current backs at the same time, I love it.

If the Broncos draft Mendenhall I'll be as happy as a pig in schit, which is exactly why I know the Broncos won't draft Mendenhall.

It's too perfect. It's too good of a fit. Something is gonna happen, another team is gonna take him before the Broncos selection. Just watch, he'll be gone by #12.

If he is gone by 12, Stewart is a real possibility. However, I'd just assume the Broncos draft Williams, or trade down....

If Mendenhall makes the top 10 that'd probably push someone else down to us, so its not a reason to get negative. Means we could either A. have a hell of a bargaining position for Matt Ryan or B. have Sedrick Ellis sitting in our laps.

No, but I wouldn't be upset if they did - especially if one was the BPA and no one would trade with us. Better have an embarrassment of riches at a position and take the value than to reach for someone.

I think you take the two most physical players with our first two picks.

If we came away with a mixture of:

1. Brandon Albert
2. Curtis Lofton

I think those guys are going to be setting tempos for a long time to come.

I am really hoping we can find a way to steal Red Bryant in this draft. I just have a feeling he's going to develop into a Kris Jenkins type of player, especially against the run.

I agree to an extent with that but IMHO CB and QB are the last 2 positions that should even be considered in this draft if we keep Paymah and Foxworth. We've all seen how useful the best CB's have been when they have to cover a WR for 15 seconds or break their coverage to stop an oncoming RB.

bpc - I know you like Bryant and I'm certainly not dead set against him. However, I watched 5-6 A&M games this year. Every game I sat down and thought before the game "they've got this great DT I need to keep an eye on" At the end of the game, my thought was always "did he even play in the game?"
