This one is a possibility. Since Carolina is now a no go, Atlanta MAY be an option...as is a Denver home game.

From my brother in law...hope this helps
As a rule anything west of Northside Drive is not safe. The closest hotels will all be downtown Atlanta. They are too numerous to list. Downtown and Midtown are not the same, so if the hotel advertises itself as Midtown it will be further away from the stadium. Remember that you can stay anywhere near the Marta Train system and just ride the train right to the dome if you want. The Trains are safe, I would avoid the buses. One of the guys on my unit is a season ticket holder and they tailgate. I will find out from him how that works. I know it is ridiculously expensive to park near the dome so bear that in mind. |

Just making sure....ATL is not the greatest of destinations afterall and if the G Dome is already a notch in his belt, I can easily understand bypassing going to such a place again.but yeah, I'll admit it was a pretty stupid question....we were pretty messed up by that schedule and not thinking too clearly at the time, my apologies. ![]() |

No worries... just giving you a hard time. I don't think it matters if he's been there or not.
Miles is trying to get me to this game since we only play in Atlanta every eight years. I simply replied, it's a dome! We'll see, but I'd much rather try and make Carolina than Atlanta. It would be nice to see Elam one last time, hopefully on the sidelines. The schedule screwed us big time. NE, Carolina, and Cleveland were our top three for this year, but NE and Cleveland are probably no goes since they're not on Sunday. Carolina could be a stretch. We'll see. This is now the first year where I have no idea which games we'll make. |

some info if needed
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...9/fvi.falcons/ TAILGATING It's "pretty difficult to tailgate at a stadium without a large parking lot close by." "Most folks tailgate in vacant lots up to a quarter mile from the stadium," so "if you want to pull out a few chairs, drinks and eat out of a picnic basket, that's pretty easy. If you want to grill and really spread out, that's not easy at all." "An abandoned rail station across from the stadium known as 'the Gulch' is the place to be. "But many find the location" under a highway overpass "not very inviting." The alternatives are "spread out over many parking lots," "are small and hard to get to." That doesn't stop some motivated souls from "deep-frying a turkey" or serving up "soul food mixed with ribs and barbecue." NEIGHBORHOOD The stadium is at "the far south end of downtown" "just outside of the Atlanta business district." "It isn't exactly the high-rent area. If one stays with the crowd, however, safety should not be a concern." "It looks pretty rough and is generally a low-income neighborhood." However, the area is in the middle of a "slow" "gentrification effort," "with new condos and restaurants." "Down the road" are "lots of attractions other than football -- CNN Center, Phillips Arena, the aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, World of Coca-Cola, etc." |
