Default Broncos already have a new contract for DT Dewayne Robertson in place.

Quote:
Now they have to do something about Dewayne Robertson to free up some cash if they hope to sign their draft picks. I'm still expecting a deal to the Broncos on the weekend of the draft, probably for a second-day pick. I've been told that Robertson and the Broncos already have a new contract in place for just such an occasion.

He reported that the parameters were in place last week... everyone's jumping on it today.

OK. Cool. I'd give a 5th for him to make the Jets feel happy or something.

He might be hurt but I think the team will do something smart about the contract. Even though Walker did not work out they could have cut him after year one and not had any cap hit. I think we would do something like that with Robertson..

I'm for brigning this guy in for a 2nd day pick and if the contract is reasonable. We are still a little bit away from producing our own DL, so a couple more stop-gaps are necessary. At least if the contract is reasonable, this guy has some upside and eventhough he's been reported as bad knees, the fact remains he hasn't missed game time because of it.

What part of "bone on bone" don't they understand? This has the distinctive whiff of IHOP to it.

People can play with bone to bone. It can be painful, but it can be done. Elway played 16 years without an ACL, besides this has no simlarities to I-Hop except that they play the same position.

I think what people haven't understood is thatRobertson has played 3 years with his knee like this and he has never missed a game. I'm sure they have some contract worked out with stipulations about his knee or playing time.

Robertson's not ideal, but Denver doesn't have the luxury of waiting for an ideal player on the D-line. We need anything we can get our hands on. Robertson looks like he would be a solid starter - a win for us,.

Wow, Butterbean is really flowing with the info. Could he at least provide a vague structure of the deal? How about siting whether his unnamed source is from the Jets, Broncos or Robertson's agency? What's the need to wait for the draft? Which team needs to know the players still on the board before pulling the trigger? This smacks of a guy trying to make it look like he's doing his job when he's actually done nothing.

That is basically the discussion at the Forums. I'm in the "hasn't missed a game" and "2nd day pick" camps.

For all these injury problem and attitude problem players, Shanny keeps bringing in, shouldn't they be making contracts like the Cowboys gave to TO when they signed him a few years ago.

From what i remember it was a 3 year contract that basically gave Dallas an out after each season with no monetary problem.

I would have no problem signing Robertson to a deal that basically allowed DEnver to easily cut ties with him should his knee become a problem.
