Default christianity slowly stamped out in algeria

http://www.compassdirect.org/en/disp...yname=&rowcur=

"“I equate evangelism with terrorism,” Religious Affairs Minister Ghoulamullah said in an article in L’Expression on February 12."

“[The] result: the churches are closed, services forbidden, and nothing can change the situation!” reported the Algerian Christian website collectifalgerie.free.fr on March 26.

"In addition to restrictions on church building and worship locations, the 2006 religion law also bans evangelistic material and attempts to convert Muslims to other religions. As most Algerian Christians are converts from Islam, the law could be interpreted to make nearly all Christian churches in the country illegal."

Evangelism: using fear of death to coerce someone to do something.

Sounds like terrorism to me.

That's about as non-sequitur of a conclusion as I have ever seen or heard.

Your train of thought is off the tracks and in a ditch somewhere.

It's not fear of death, it's fear of going to hell in lieu of "heaven".

If this thread was about the persecution of gays, there's no way it would have garnered the kind of off-handed, callous responses it has received. Christians throughout the world are being killed and persecuted and the most many of you are willing to say is equivalent to: they deserve it. Shame on you.

Callous responses?
Truthful, yes.
Opinionated, Yes.

Richard Dawkins is a hack and a poser who tries to come off as if he knows anything about theology when he is nothing but a science writer. Not a researcher, mind you, but a writer. He's not an authority in his own field. He is not educated in theology, and clearly shows how little he understands it in his disjointed, ill-tempered philosophical noodling. The guy is worthless and anyone with an education in science should be able to pick it up right off the bat.

Unfortunately, those who are uneducated in science are easily convinced. Even more easily convinced are those who are uneducated in science AND theology.

Referring to him as a legit contributor in philosophy is like referencing the "Swift Boat Veterans" as legit contributors to the advancement of intelligent political discussion.

Devout liberals tend to reveal their adherence to moral relativism in situations like this.

Christians living in relative peace deserve to die horrible unjust deaths, but criminals on death row are being treated unfairly. What a ridiculous dichotomy. Silly.

These people delude themselves into thinking that they are moral and/or intellectual, when all they really are are loudmouthed poor losers.

and here you have the reason that Islam is now the largest 'denomination' in the world. when you fear having your head cut off for apostasy, you tend to stay Muslim. in free Arab nations, you are seeing lots of conversions to Christianity as well as an undertow of Atheism.

yeah, those Atheistic regimes like Stalin, Mao, et al utilized their fair share of 'unsavory tactics', for sure.

big difference between propaganda, reason, and oh, say, execution....couple that with the fact that birth rates in Muslim nations are off the charts and you've got Islam growing by leaps and bounds.

there has been a culture war on for about 50 years now. Christians are losing a part of that war. men are losing another part. (literally as well as figuratively)

Leaps and bounds?
Really?
It couldn't be that many are jumping off of the "ARK"?
Or maybe it's the promise of all of those virgins?
Or maybe heaven just isn't what it used to be?

I don't care what the problem is, are you saying the U.S. should attack another foreign country "and make it right"?

These dime store media politicians love to interject themselves into the public debate.

It's too bad that they contribute nothing more than cheap philosophy and division.
