Default No more Burger Bill at the DPO:

listening to am950thFan on the way home tonight Jim Armstrong said that Bill Williamson starts writing for ESPN.com next week.

Covering 32 teams is easier than not covering one team.

A generic writer who repeats things everyone knew three days ago. Yeah, he'll fit right in there.

it's pretty bad when a guy covering baseball for 25 years(Mike Kliss) moves in and does a good enough job for two

I appreciate that but I'm not a "columnist" as it were. Columnists write stories. They just write "here's what happened" and "here's what needs to happen." Newspapers aren't looking for someone like me. They're looking for someone who's a writer first and a football fan second. It's not about analysis or even reality in print media. It's usually about making something seem interesting to the average Joe and then dramatizing the crap out of it. I write for hard core football fans and their audience is for more the passive sports fan.

I suggest everyone read Lee Rasizer. He doesn't poop out stuff as fast, but it's all quality and he asks questions that are intriguing to us as well as joe-bandwagon.

I wonder how long it will take Florio from pft to somehow link Burger Bill's departure with Shanahan looking for a scapegoat?

The Peter Principle strikes again. Just like when I watch Richard Justice on ESPN. Dickie's MO is to predict something one week and predict just the opposite the next week so, either way, he can smugly claim he predicted it.

Ii still laugh about when Shef tried to run a marathon and almost died. just remembered the extensive food reviews.

He so self gratuitous.

Billy Bob just ate anything within reach I guess...Shef was a picky eater...Dunno which was worse...at least Shef seemed to be something of a bronco fan.

I echo the sentiments about Kaylore...He shines bright here.

Sure, if you live in Denver. Those of us in the rest of the world are going to have to hear him do spots on ESPN Radio. He might even get to host a show with Fat Sean - at which point, my eyes will bleed.

Does Kaylore have any formal training in writing AT ALL? If not, there's no way a quality publication like the DPO would hire him. Especially not to cover a professional sports team right away. It takes years to work your way up to that sort of thing.

It's a **** job anyway. Kaylore ought to assemble a crack team to take over the Broncos scout.com site. It's currently a ghost town. His content during training camp would instantly give it credibility.

I am not much for formal training myself. People who love what they do and go after by themselves are usually much better than someone who sits in a school listing to a teacher who can't do what they are trying to teach.

If formal training is what Burger brought to the table, I'm against it.

ESPN gives me yet another reason (#7346587356834?) not to bother with their lame website.

I remember the first time I visited this site when it had a monthly calender on the front with a bunch of funny photoshops.

It also had an ad for "Adam Schester's Food reviews: Now with Broncos notes!"

I think you're right - the Denver post probably isn't trying to appeal to the hardcore fan who they reckon will read anyway. They're trying to appeal to the more fickle and uninformed sections of the readership to keep their numbers as high as possible - winning those people over will make a bigger difference to the circulation numbers. Its a business at the end of the day. That's why the true football fan will always be better off with stuff written on the mane by knowledgeable enthusiasts like Mr Kahn here....
