So does anyone feel like the first day only being rounds 1 and 2 will hurt the quality of picks in the 4th round? the only reason I say this is usually there is a big re-shuffel after the first day and I just dont really see that happening when you have rounds 3-7 on the same day. I think this does two things 1. it will really show who knows their stuff on the second day. 2. it will make thoes bad picks (clarett) really more painful. I havent seen much conversation on this yet and I wonder how many of you think it will have an impact?

Bad picks are bad picks. I think there will be less trades with less time on the clock

I like it. I was taking way too long previously. If teams have their boards in place and know what they want to do, then there is no reason that the draft can't proceed with the efficiency that the new rules are hoping to create.
I don't think that the late round picks will be effected by this change at all. Teams will spend the extra time that night going over things for the next day and I doubt that they miss a beat form previous years. Maybe next year we can go back to the 15 round format! |

I agree it took to long but you could have fixed that without changing the rounds like this. and I do think this will change the second day alot I think you are going to see more guys slip due to poor decision making so there will be more terrell davis like prospects in the 4th 5th and 6th rounds untill teams get used to the new format. especially watch the teams who are bad at the draft (detroit, oakland) their mistakes will get magnified.

I actully think it could increase the amount of trades. Im sure that teams will be talking through the night and working things out for the 2nd day

I dont think it will effect the draft that much if at all, The teams go in with a game plan that they have worked on for months and will probably stick to it as they usually do

I'm a draft freak and even I wanted them to shorten the rounds...
I don't think it will effect the trades either... Teams will adapt and there's no reason the way it's set up now won't work. If you ever want proof that 10 minutes is long enough, listen to the MLB draft in June... Sure there are no trades but they pick almost every 15 seconds and that's from a much larger pool of players (High school, junior college, Jr and Sr's at 4 year schools) than the NFL has to deal with. If baseball can pick every 15 sec than the NFL can pick every 10 min. |
