Default What a Gutless Bunch of ....

No thread on this? Come on, people. Ferraro says Obama wouldn't be where he is if not for his race. Is she right? If he was a white politician with the same background would he have gotten this far? Why not? Or is this just racism on Ferraro's part? The reaction here just proves my contention that the American people have been so pistol whipped by PC they don't even want to hear the subject of race brought up, let alone honestly discussed.

Why comment on it? The Billarites will just say it means nothing just like the rest of her attacks, which of course she has no knowledge of.

Saw that article, too. She also went on to assert that Hillary's road to the promised land was tougher because she is a she.

I guess what she is saying is that her victimized minority (women) have it harder than Obama's.

Now, Ferraro says she was "celebrating" the fact that black voters were coming out and supporting Obama. Sounds like she suddenly realized the PC bulldozer was coming to her address, so to speak.

She's right. I think that's where Ferraro's comments are coming from; Frustration. Obama is getting the red carpet treatment from the press while Billary is getting hammered. Is it because of his race? A legitimate question that the press will not ask, answer, or discuss. Easier to unload on Ferraro.

I think you would honestly have to say that Obama is recieving the benefits of an ultra-pc environment. The fact that he is black does help him in the political world because no one wants to set off the race bomb and have it explode in their face. Obama and his camp know that they have this ace up their sleeve and that they can throw it out when they need to.

As far as qualifications, it's hard to say anyone running for president is strongly qualified to be the president. It all comes down to money now...he or she who raises the most has the best chances. So I guess he's qualified because he is raising money better than Clinton or McCain.

The issue of race has always made my head spin. If we keep ignoring it and just saying that it's an issue we aren't allowed to talk about then race relations in this country will continue to be the way they are. With blacks and other minorities itching to cry foul whenever a white person says something that could be deemed offensive. This will only serve to divide race even more, so lets get over talking about race being taboo and lets talk about it, get fired up, and get some solutions to the problems we have.

It's scary how similar this Democratic race for president is to the Massachusetts race for governor last year. Both involve black male candidates with thin resumes (with regard to government positions), but both were/are extremely eloquent and effective speakers, against white females who were heavy early favorites, had more government "experience" (in Mass, she was the Lieutenant Governor....I guess one could argue that her position was very similar to first lady ) but who both alienated a segment of the population due to being labeled "cold".

IMO - in both cases, race was a MAJOR factor. As negative as the opposing campaigns tried to get, you just knew that the gloves would/could never come completely off because there was a significant "can't go there" zone. And the more negative the campaign got against the black candidate, the more sympathy he was able to drum up by going to the PC Crowd and playing the victim angle.

Dam, America isn't ready for a black president.

IMO, Obama's comment about "slice and dice" politics is highly unrealistic. His statement seems to be, "Let's not talk about race and maybe it will go away." When it comes to race and gender, America is like some huge dysfunctional family.
