Naked Sushi Night Coming To Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Naked sushi is coming to Minneapolis. The dining fad of eating sushi off a woman or man naked -- except for some strategically placed banana leaves and flowers -- started in Japan. It's called nyatiamori which means to adorn body of a woman. It has swept through Europe, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Now it's coming to the Twin Cities, in blustery March. Thom Pham has scheduled a naked sushi night at Temple, his downtown Minneapolis restaurant, on March 8. "It is art," said Pham. He said he's hired eight models for the night, six women and two men. He says they have to be completely hairless with perfect skin for the event. He's booked more models than he needs, just in case one of them gets a pimple. "When people hear of the idea they think, they think naked and sushi, they think it's sexually," said Pham. "We do use a lot of flowers, banana leaf, bamboo leaf and stuff like that to dress them up." There's etiquette to this because people can't touch or talk to the models. "You have to use your chop sticks," said Pham. Barbara Harman, an artist with the Women's Art Registry of Minnesota, said she wouldn't call it art. Some feminists groups are not willing to come to the table on this. "It certainly objectifies the woman or the man's body, whoever is being used in this particular way. What exactly are they selling?" said Harman. Tickets for naked sushi night cost $75, which includes sushi, sake and champagne. |

this is old news. I haven't been to one yet but we were planning on going a year ago. I got to reschedule that outing.

After Bears vs Broncos we ended up at another place that did kinda the same thing but was not as classy and there was no food involved. |

Haha... wonder what'd happen if one of the guys happened to spring a banana leaf mid-meal...
This sounds like another one of those things people who have money do just to let everyone know they have money. For $75 I can take my family and my parents to outback and actually enjoy the food. |

I've run across this a few times, the most memorable being a business trip in Finland. Naked sushi followed by the Finnish Sauna (warming up and then jumping in the fricking ice-cold lake)....
That was quite a trip. |
