Default Dominique Foxworth would reportedly be interested in playing for the Jets.

***Just reminding you all that this is from a blogger***

If the Jets are looking to bolster their cornerback position and get rid of Dewayne Robertson, they might be able to do both in one shot.

In an interview with Newsday's Alex Labidou, the agent for Domonique Foxworth of the Broncos says that his client would be interested in playing for the Jets. Foxworth is a restricted free agent with the Broncos, a team that is known to be in the market for a defensive lineman. Like, say, Robertson.

There aren't any current talks between the teams, Jim Ivler said, but it's possible that as Robertson's $3 million roster bonus deadline gets closer and Foxworth's frustration with his role in Denver increases, the teams could find a way to swap headaches.

I'll take Robertson or the 3rd rounder.

I thought Robertson has a major knee issue, though, doesn't he?

3 Million roster bonus? I don't know about that, which is why trades for this guy haven't happened. He's being a hard ass over working out a new deal.

Plus what if the Jets just cut him?

Robertson has a bone-on-bone condition in one knee. It never caused him to miss a game, but he did have it checked out by Birmingham-based orthopedist James Andrews in the summer of '05.

I feel that Cincy made the knee issue bigger than it is,in a atempt to save face over the contract dealings.

Considering he has only missed 5 games in 5 years I can't imagine his knee is really "Bone on Bone"...

I honestly feel Dwayne is going to be cut and with the other teams in the league hanging back, I suspect I'm not the only one. Let his contract die with jets and then we can look at him and give him a physical ourselves and keep Foxworth and our picks.

Problem is, with the contracts that are being signed right now, we won't be in the market for him if he becomes a FA. Thanks to the Dumbasses in Oakland the market for borderline DT's is about 60+ million.

That kind of contract makes his current base salaries look like a bargain.

I think Fox is going to get traded one way or another this summer, since it makes more sense for us to get something for him now, rather than nothing for him next year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jets cut Robertson. Why trade for him? I would however be interested in trading Foxworth for a 3rd/4th.

I just checked, and Foxworth is a backup, no one cares want he wants, he'll play where he's told to play

We need a DT & if we wait until he is cut there is no garauntee we sign Robertson. As a matter fact I can garauntee we don't cause Robertson will go to the highest bidder which won't be us. Trading for him would assure his place on the team.

Nothing makes his $11M cap number for '08 look like a bargain, and it sounds like his agent is being a real hard ass on taking anything less than a fair market restructure.

So why would we want to trade Foxworth for him only to end up paying him basically his market value anyhow?

If the Jets want Foxy let them give us a 3rd for him. We can still offer Robertson what we consider a reasonable contract when they're forced to cut him.

and someone else will sign him for Tommy Kelly money and we will loose out on another FA.

he is due $18 million over the next 2 seasons... which is exactly what tommy Kelly will cost the Raiders. Considering we have the cap room why not pay this guy the remainder of his salary and then decide on a long term contract later?

I know that we need a DT, but his current price tag is way to high ( I know that his FA price is likely to be higher). I don't want to pay a boat load for a person who at this point in time is a mediocre DT. I don't get the love for this guy anyways, I'm not in awe of his statistics or his on the field performance. I'd rather trade foxworth for a pick and atleast get something of value for him that we could use to move up in the draft.

I guess the biggest difference of opinion here is on Foxworth... Unlike some I do not feel anyone is going to give us a 3rd for him. Because of that i think we should get what ever value we can before he walks next season.

i love how everyone wants 3rd and 4th round picks all day...you can either get a potential but unknown person, more then likely just a perennial backup, or you can get a great known DT in robertson.

With health/knee issues that are turning every team off that has interest in him and might make the Jets cut him June 1st. I'd take the draft pick.
