Looks like damaged goods ...

Dewayne Robertson to Bengals trade falls apart
by rich cimini
daily news sports writer

Tuesday, March 4th 2008, 4:00 AM

The Jets, trying to unload underachieving nose tackle Dewayne Robertson, found a taker Monday - the Bengals. But a tentative trade fell apart because Robertson failed to reach a contract extension with Cincinnati, according to his agent, Hadley Engelhard.

The Bengals agreed to send fourth- and fifth-round picks in the upcoming draft to the Jets, contingent on Robertson signing a new contract and passing a physical. The Bengals flew him into town to meet coach Marvin Lewis and to "sell him on Cincinnati," Engelhard told the Daily News.

Robertson has two years and $18.8 million left on his current deal, and the Bengals wanted to rework it. Said Engelhard: "We couldn't come to terms, plain and simple." He said he wasn't sure if talks could be revived. Engelhard has spoken to other teams, but the Jets preferred the Bengals because they offered the best compensation.

Robertson recently underwent surgery for a broken hand, but that wasn't an issue with the Bengals, Engelhard said. But they may have been alarmed by a bone-on-bone condition in Robertson's knee.

Well fine, but this thread is a different topic - that he's damaged goods - and that's news. Sorry if I missed Post #58

Besides, the board is dead last night and today ... tons of visitors, but very few new threads or discussions.

bone on bone condition is not that uncommon, i have it and i bet a pretty good number of yall have it too. put your leg flat on a bench in a locked out position and squeeze youre quad as hard as you possibly can very quickly, if you knee hurts you prolly have it.

Relax....I was just busting stones.....I was half-kidding as everyone around here always throws around the "use existing threads comment".......and yes, different topic....just wanted to mention that it had been brought up. No biggie. To be honest.....I like new threads so you don't have to sift through 500 posts to get a new "tidbit"......

No harm, no foul.

Hmmm... I hadn't heard anything about this catastrophic knee injury before this trade fell through. I wonder who the source is for this tip. Me thinks I smell a tiger who's been chewing on sour grapes.

That pic is JCMElway's sig actually ... I just replaced Hillary's pic with McCain Truth is, though, McCain is kind of a warmonger. That's not even an overstatement. He's 100% behind the Iraq war, and has encouraged Bush to bomb/invade Iran. During the 2000 campaign I read a story that said that in his entire public life, McCain has supported every single military action the US has undertaken, and urged many more we haven't. He kinda scares me from that perspective.

I HAVE AN IDEA FOR DT! ... With Williams, Jenkins, Stroud and Rogers gone ... Robertson damaged goods ... Kelly overpaid and MT busted ... and if we can't get Gerard Warren back from the Raiders for a return of their 6th round pick, here's a guy who would instantly be our 2nd best, maybe best DT. He was a starter the year we went to the AFC Championship ... Ladies and gentlemen, I RE-introduce you to ....

Michael Myers

MICHAEL MYERS!

Michael Myers rubs Shanahan's and Bates noses into the dirt by intercepting
this pass and scoring a touchdown against the hated Ravens in 2007. Just one
year removed from the Broncos, Myers is a free agent, and could probably
be signed for the veteran minimum. So unlike Hixon and Warren, THIS roster
blunder can be fixed!

you know the more I think of it I honestly think Mike Meyers was a huge reason for our run stopping success in 2005. Bring him back(along with Robertson hehe his knees r fine)

Hey I like the sound of that... But I immediately started to think of Dominick Davis', Williams', Jones' (whatever the hell his last name is now) injury that ended his career in similar fashion.

Yeah, I've become very nostalgic for the Gerard Warren / Michael Myers days ... that was a very good defense. Warren/Myers are worlds better than Sam Adams and Amon Gordon. I think Jim Bates did this franchise a major disservice by decimating our roster of DTs the year before the league-wide DT salary structure goes through the roof ... He set this franchise back a decade!!

If Michael Myers had any talent at all, I'd consider it. Unfortunately, he doesn't. At all.

That's exactly who I suggested a few days ago ... why not Michael Myers, Larry Tripplett, and Mallard, McKinley, Burton and a couple rookies to compete for the 3 spots in addition to Marcus Thomas? We gotta do something in free agency, right now we've got bupkus, and rookie DTs are notoriously ineffective.
