My brother, me and his friends have upwards of 12 360's used daily, none have broken yet. However we know how to take care of our systems.

And for the record, it doesn't take a stockholder to know Xbox live is a far superior service and doesn't cost anywhere near the market of $50 a month like you guys are claiming, rofl.
I do think he is talking in a yearly coverage and I replaced my normal xbox dvd drive 2 times on my own (bought the new drives off ebay) and it had a big reason I didnt get a 360. Plus my brother, my brother in-law, and 3 guys I work with have all had to send them back and just to hit it harder another friends brother had to. Almost all had to do with over heating. Dont know what happened with 2 of the guys I know they just said it was dead and had to send it back both are not computer savvy so didnt press to hard to find out whats wrong.

The RROD mess is greatly exaggerated.

My 360 is the **** and I wouldn't trade it in for a PS3. The games are amazing, XBL is badass, the extra content (trailers, demos, free games, Live Arcade, movies, tv shows, playing my mp3s wirelessly through my computer, etc...) are way worth it.

How about selling me one of those unused systems.

I laugh everytime when I hear people say shiat like this. There is a reason xbox extended their warrenty to 3 years for systems with the ring of death, because they know they sold a faulty product. If they wernt in such a rush to beat sony in the release it might not have happend.

I don't regret getting a 360 over the PS3. I have had the red ring once, but that is to be expected. I've got a lot of playing time out of the thing. Plus I only know one person with a PS3 and his blue ray died and had to send the thing off. I may someday go back to playstation, but for now my 360 does what I need.

About one more week of COD4 and its time for Rainbow Six: Vegas 2!

huh so expecting it to die is normal? You 360 owners get more comical.

That makes sense, seeing as how my brother and I own 3 360's and they are used regularly (Mine has likely over a thousand hours on it) and all of which work perfectly. There was a higher failure rate on the original systems because the power block wasn't working correctly, I'm not denying that. However if you keep your system well ventilated and off the carpet I guarantee you it will survive just like all of mine have.

If you're going to buy a system, theres no reason to even worry about the failure rate of the first generation. This current generation will last just as well as any PS3, so the failure rate as a bash is irrelivent anymore.

Not true. I kept my system in pristine condition and I had the RRoD twice. I have had most every system since the Atari 2600 and have never had issues like I did with the 360.

At this point, yeah it is. It doesn't bother me though, XBOX took care of it. If it happens again then I'll be pissed.

I originally wanted to get a 360 in anticipation of Halo 3, but it turned out so bad. I played one time and then walked away from it.

I babied the xbox360 more than I did any other system I have ever had and it still broke.Plus the guy at gamestop bought his system a couple of weeks ago and it broke. Maybe he didnt know about ventilating his system eventhough it pretty common knowledge for a gamer. I liked the xbox360 when it worked and I love the ps3. If anyones intrested I have a 600 dollar paperweight with a xbox logo on it for sell plus it comes with glowing red lights.

Me too. I have had every system except the neo geo and maybe one other system that I cant think of right now. I remember having intellivison,Atari, coleco all the other systems. Pretty pathetic when a 20+ year old system lasted longer than the xbox360.Oh well, I just hope they repair mine soon and I dont get the RROD twice like you.

I have to say that Microsoft was good about fixing the unit (both times). The problem seems to be so bad that they hardly asked any questions, just my address and sent along my xbox coffin. Just got tired of doing that so once I got it back the second time, it went the way of Craig's List.

I remember finding out where my parents were hiding my Christmas gift (th 2600) and would get it out and play it. One day I broke one of the toggle switches on it and ended up fixing it with a rubber band. Ah, those were the days...
