Default It looks like we're drafting a safety.

I keep seeing a lot of the decent and moderately priced FA safeties taking visits ans signing elsewhere. It looks like Lynch was our FA signing for S. I remember someone pointing out that Denver was talking to Jamar Adams at the Sr Bowl. Granted, Denver talked to a lot of guys at the Sr Bowl and combine but it seems like we're drafting a S. Thoughts?

It was said that Denver is very unimpressed with this years Safety class.........Now is that a smokescreen or the truth I dont know. But we are bringing in 3 safeties next week 1 including Marlon Mcree and if we sign one im pretty sure we wont be taking a safetey early

If Denver didn't talk to any Tackles at the senior bowl, that's a good sign.

Jamar Adams in the 4th would be fine by me.

DaJuan Morgan at #42

Trade down and pick up a couple extra picks and get Phillips in the 20-28 range

Draft a safety in the 7th

I think we'd be smart to grab a guy like Corey Lynch or Wesley Woodyard in the later rounds but I think we need the first two rounds to get at least two guys in the trenches. Right now I'd say Clady or Williams (OT) in the first and Law, Sims or Bryant (DT) in the second. We'll pick up a veteran and probably draft a rookie S this year IMO.

That would be strong evidence that we're not interested in him at all.

I'm ok with drafting any safety not named Kenny Phillips.

He is likely to be the best player available at our spot if he's still there and he fills a major need...why not take him? I'd rather have a stud OT but it's not like that's gonne happen now is it?

At #12? I REALLY disagree that he will be the best player available at #12 and this draft is full of top notch OT's and I think there is a good chance we take one at 12.

Best player available - with our second round pick. The guy was very average for the team. His combine performance wasn't what people wanted either. He's a second round safety that is being slotted higher because the class is so weak. Just ask a Miami fan how he did this year. There are better choices with our second round pick.

Why are we bringing in McCree and Manuel for visits, then?

I think we're still going to sign one. We might draft one, too, but we'll still sign one.

When's the last time Shanny spent a high draft pick on an O-Line guy? Foster went at #20 right? He's probably still stewing over that. I'd love a stud OT at 12...I'll be shocked if we do that though. Why bother when we can scoop up some UFA or 6th rounder off the scrap heap and mold 'em into the next Lepsis? Or so the thinking goes I guess...

No way Phillips lasts till the 2nd round, and if he fell apart his senior year it's probably partly because Miami sucked eggs. Like I said...I'd prefer a big nasty OT...doubt that will happen.

Damn! Kaylore usually you always have great insight, but I have to agree with footsteps, Phillips is the answer at 12. He shores up our safety spot. Lynch gives us one more year to teach Kenny, Abdullah wiffs with the team just like on the field, and we move on hopefully to a super bowl win

You can count all the big plays Phillips has made in his collegiate career on one hand. And damn near all of them came in bunches against scrub teams. He just had a very weak combine too. There is no reason to take him in the first 50 picks, let alone the first 15.

He isn't the next Ed Reed or Sean Taylor, he's just another guy who happened to go to a school with a recent history of premier safeties.

I'd take Tom Zbikowski over Phillips, he's stronger, more athletic, and has special teams capabilities. We could get Zib in the 4th round.

This is clearly the worst safety class in a very long time, there isn't one who deserves a 1st round selection, unless you have plans on converting DRC or Talib to FS.
