Broncos released WR Javon Walker, according to ESPN's Michael Smith. He's a big name, but Walker's contract and knee injury made it an easy choice by Denver. That no one choose to give up a late-round pick for Walker is telling. It's rumored that he could need microfracture surgery in the future, although he will have plenty of suitors lined up with MRI machines. Dallas, Washington, Philadelphia, and Tampa Bay have been rumored to be interested. |

Wish it would've ended differently and certainly better than this.

Don't get me wrong, Javon is a selfish pig. But players get fed up and childishly demand trades like this all the time. Head coaches being petty like Mike was is a much more rare occurence. |

A big **** you to Javon Walker and an even bigger one to Mike Shanahan and his acrimonious ability to attract the biggest pieces of **** to this franchise and his inability to handle them.

Confirmed by both Sirius and the Denver Post
Broncos release Walker By Mike Klis The Denver Post The Broncos released wide receiver Javon Walker today, an NFL source confirmed. Walker had spent two bittersweet seasons with the Broncos. Acquired from the Green Bay Packers in 2006 in exchange for a second-round draft pick, Walker overcame reconstructive knee surgery to lead the team with 69 receptions, 1,084 yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 2006. He started strong in 2007, recording 17 receptions for 220 yards through the Broncos' first two games, both victories, however Walker's right knee began troubling him to the point he needed a second surgical procedure on the knee at mid-season. He returned late, but struggled to regain form and finished with 26 catches for 287 yards. The day after the season ended, Walker publicly stated he didn't think he fit into the Broncos' offense and stated a desire to play elsewhere. The Broncos attempted to trade Walker in recent days, but released him in lieu of paying him a $5.4 million option bonus due March 4. http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_8409167 |

I enjoy watching the ego battles. Its good entertainment. The Brett Favre's, Randy Moss', Bill Bellycheats, Terrell Owens', Mike Shanahan's, Javon Walker's and lets not forget the grandfather of all egos... Al Davis. Keep it coming boys the offseaon is a better place watching you all clash.

I wish him nothing but the worst. He's soared to the top of my list of human POSs. I can't stand the current state of the league, where contracts mean nothing at all.

You know... Right now TheDave hates Javon Walker more than Quiterson and Greise combined.

$10m for 1 year of sitting on your ass doing **** all. Not bad if you can get that kind of job. Given this, you can certainly understand Pat Bowlen's stance on the future of this organisation recruiting and paying players obtained via free agency and trade.

Javon is just about the $$. Thats why he wouldnt restructure, thats why he wanted to leave denver when it appeared Marshall would take his incentive bonuses.
And now he's getting paid $9 million to be cut. SOB. Draft pick compensation would have been nice, but good riddance. On another note, he'll probably be designated a June 1st cut to spread the cap hit. |
