I hope this isn't all they do before the trade deadline. Wasn't it only a few weeks ago that he was telling his agent to tell teams his ankle wasn't getting better?

I'm just a casual hockey fan, though - so if I am missing something, know that it's only because I'm kind of hockey-dumb.

Well, he obviously isn't interested in winning a Cup as the Avs don't have nearly the pieces needed to make even a half-serious run. I think he wants to finish his career in Denver and will give it his last-best effort should the Avs make the playoffs. He won't be an impact player since he's a shell of a shell of his former self, but at least he can ride off on his own terms.

I almost cried when i heard the news..big Avs fan and was my favorite player when he left..will prolly play on the wing on the 2nd line maybe first line with Sakic and Hejduk..if he was still hurt he wouldn't come back, simple as that and the Avs wouldn't have signed him..they want to win now!!

No it's not. It's a sellers market this year, and if you look at some of the returns teams got for trading Forsberg etc. last year you will see that GMs overpaid for rental players.
