Default If this player is available at 12, you take him and dont look back?

The TSN mock that has us taking Long got be to thinking about what guys we should take without hesitation at 12...who would be so worth taking that it would outweigh trading down?

Ellis, Dorsey, Jake Long, Darren McFadden...

Chris or Jake?

I'm assuming Chris since you mention Jake below. I'm just drooling for those I cannot have at this point, like Ellis and probably won't get, a good safety, but not in the first round.

No, the TSN mock has us taking Jake Long. Its an interesting thought. I think it only takes one team to decide they like Clady more and its not out of the question. And I think that team is KC. I think the other teams might be wary of Jake because of a) their own needs and b) they might be worried he best fits a ZBS, which is what he has played in the last 2 years.

I would take Jake Long faster than you can say blueberry pancakes.

Plug him in for the next 12-14 years.

Jake Long, who was listed at 6-7, 331 on the Michigan roster, was measured at 6-7, 313 pounds this morning. He talked about the fact that he had only two penalties during his four-year career with the Wolverines. He had a holding call his redshirt freshman season and had a false start this past year.

Long only gave up two sacks during his career. He said one came against Michigan State four years ago and one came against Ohio State's Vernon Gholston, who is one of the top players at the combine.

Asked about his penalty-free play, Long basically said he was an effective cheater. He said he always keeps his hands inside so that officials can't see him when he's holding. Since there's a good chance the Raiders will draft him, I'm not sure this is something he should be discussing publicly.

Long played his first two years at right tackle before moving to the left side for his junior and senior seasons. He said the greatest honor he's received was being elected captain his final two seasons.

Ellis, Dorsey, Jake Long, Darren McFadden...
close to the same for me:

Ellis, Dorsey, J. Long or Clady.

KC will take Long, mark it down. They need O-line help in the worst way. Of course, they need a QB but the longer they stick with Croyle, the better for us.

I would run up and scream Jake Long if he fell to us! But, at 12 I would take McFadden (never getting out of top 5), Ellis(top 8), Dorsey(top 5) and Phillips, if none of them I would trade down.

If we get a shot at any of those players at #12, I will let Tailgatenut make my signature and use it for 6 months. Then again, it will never happen and the tooth fairy is not real

They expect his speed to knock him out of true contention for LT positions and force him to be a RT, a far less glamous and desired position. The best RTs are in the later part of the first right now while all the top prospects are LT hopefuls. Hopefully that forces him to drop.

We just have to hope people keep writing stories about how Jake Long can only play RT in the NFL.
Ellis will be gone, DT's always seem to climb the board more than any other position in the run up to the draft.

The reason is there has been nothing to watch, and too much to talk about. A lot of this crap happened last year with Joe Thomas - "sure, he has great feet, but is he too small?" Baloney. Now the knock is that Jake Long can't move fast enough. It may have an element of truth, but he is huge, powerful, and can run block like crazy. He should be a very successful lineman in the NFL for quite some time. He's a top 10 pick.

The combine will shore things up - both Chris Long and Jake Long will be top 10 picks.

McFadden could fall, and if he falls to us, we should trade down with Dallas for their two first rounders. Or, someone's first, second, and third. That would be sweet if we could end up with one first, two seconds, and a third. That's just what I would do.

Thats just stupid. Just look at Foster for a guy that ran well at the combine and watch him play on skates the next 5 years.
