Default Let's Play first Round BPA...

Ok, pretend we stay at #12, and don't trade down. McFadden, Ellis, Dorsey, and both Long's are off the board.

If the following are available, who do you take? Who is the BPA for out team?

Ryan Clady (true LT) - 6'6" 317 Boise State

Keith Rivers (LB) - 6'3" 245 USC

Kenny Phillips (FS) - 6'2" 210 Miami

Kentwan Balmer (DT) - 6'5" 308 North Carolina

if we're really using the BPA strategy...

then shouldn't we include Mendenhall and Gholston onto this?

or are you suggesting they're also already picked...

I'd rank them:

1. Ryan Clady

2. Keith Rivers

3. Kentwan Balmer

4. Kenny Phillips

I'm not sold on any of these other RBs at 12.

Clady, I'll be pissed if they passed over him if he's there at 12.

1. Ryan CLady
2. Kentwan Balmer
3. Kenny Phillips
4. Keith Rivers
5. Rashard Mendenhall (great feet and vision- will be a tremendous zone blocking running back in the NFL)

Clady has to be the pick if he is still there at 12. And i like Jonathon Stewart more than Mendenhall. I like Stewart's size and strength more than Mendenhall. I say this because i am a little tired of smaller RB's with speed as opposed to tough bruising backs

keep this in mind though if Jak Long doesn't test out well enough to convice teams he can play left tackle, it will be cClady who is off the board.

This just tells me that IF Clady is available, Shannahan will NOT pick him. Besides Cutler, Who have we drafted in the 1st that was a consensus pick of the Mane

With that said, I like Clady as well.

Cutler? I remember everyone expecting us to grab one of the Dlineman Nagata or that kid philidelphia took. We had a meltdown of historic porportions by some here.

As for the Clady pick, we might all be jumping the gun here... I've seen a number of draft boards now where Clady is garnering quite a few "Most overrated" votes.

It translates as - guy who peaked some his senior year, so no one knows how good he really is. AKA - a good combine could really help me. AKA - I pulled a hammy at the Senior Bowl after some great practice so no one knows how I can really play, but I might be really good.

How's that translation?

Remember, he is coming out after his junior season, so he has some growing to do (mentally). However, he definitely has the size - and even the mobility required in Denver - to be a force here.

again this is a dated statement. Shanny has turned the corner with his drafts imo, so this logic doesnt really apply any more.

if we had done the same thing last y ear (BPA) wouldn't the consensus pick have been Jarvis Moss? Shanny has ben pretty good at drafting to the needs of the team recently and its been documented that he covets the great Offense lines that the colts and pats have.

If Clady is available i think shanny will take him and i think he should take him. hell sign jordan gross on top of that we will dominate teams at the line

Isn't there at least one vet DT out there that would be a good choice that the Broncos would likely be able to afford? I am torn between wanting to do Oline and the DT at the same time. Would there be a DT in the second worth taking? I am just struck by the terrible deficiencies in the Dline and at the LB spots.

I wouldn't be surprised if Okam slide after workouts and more team look at tape on him.
