Lynch hears Bailey's pitch to play again
The Denver Post Article Last Updated: 02/11/2008 12:21:20 AM MST Champ Bailey made the sales pitch Sunday during the Pro Bowl. Shortly after arriving on the island Tuesday, Bailey said he had to figure out how to approach his friend and Broncos secondary mate John Lynch about the safety's future. "I gave it to him on the field," Bailey said after the NFC's come-from-behind, 42-30 victory over the AFC in the Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium in a warm, early-afternoon game. "He showed he can still play, that's for sure. He was running around making plays. "There was a few times that I said: 'You still got it. You got to come back.' He was just laughing. Hopefully, I did some good." If he was swayed by Bailey, Lynch, 36, didn't let on. He continued to play coy on whether he will return for his 16th NFL season. He said before his ninth Pro Bowl that he wanted to see if he enjoyed playing Sunday to help determine his passion. "It was fun. I really had a great time out there," Lynch said. "No decision yet, but I will be making it soon." Lynch, who was one of the AFC's five captains Sunday, wants to talk to Broncos coach Mike Shanahan again before making a final decision. Lynch is due to make $3 million this coming season. Walker talk. Bailey, a friend of Broncos receiver Javon Walker's, said he hasn't talked to him in about three weeks. Walker said Dec. 31 he didn't think he was a good fit for the team. The team is expected to try to trade him or cut him. "I'd like him to stay," Bailey said. "But everyone is in control of their own careers." Taylor honored. The NFC lined up without a safety for the first play of the game. The move was to honor slain Washington safety Sean Taylor. He died after being shot in a burglary at his home in November. Taylor was later voted to the Pro Bowl team. In the Redskins' first game after Taylor's death, the team did the same gesture on the first play. The three Redskins in the Pro Bowl wore his No. 21 jersey Sunday, and they were the three captains for the NFC. About a dozen of Taylor's family members were at Sunday's game. Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis wore Taylor's jersey to the contest. Hall of Fame honors. The six new Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, including former Broncos left tackle Gary Zimmerman, were honored before the game. Bailey and Lynch embraced Zimmerman on the field. Bailey also had a long embrace with inductee Darrell Green. The two were teammates with the Redskins. Footnotes. The Broncos could soon begin the process of making player moves, including the transfer of offensive tackle Matt Lepsis to the retired list and the release of injured linebacker Warrick Holdman. ... Broncos owner Pat Bowlen was in attendance. ... The only players booed during introductions were from the AFC champion New England Patriots. I want Shanny to try and get Lepsis to reconsider. i think last season was his getting back to football playing self and this year a season removed from knee surgery he could still play at a higer level than anyone on the roster

I guess that they chose to go about things in a way that rubbed people the wrong way and its coming back to bite them in the rear. |

lol...sorry bud...you are SOL...not only is Shanny not in agreement with you, he basically stated on the record that he wished Matt had called it in a year earlier. I don't think there is any bad air between them, but Shanahan isn't trying to talk him into coming back.

I think Lepsis has just ran out of gas and his body is failing. It's a good time to walk away.

Lepsis made the choice to retire. If he thought that last year was an anomoly while he recovered fully then he would have stayed. I think this indicates he thinks he is done which is the most important opinion.

Don't forget Harrison coming out and admitting that he took performance enhancers.
