Freak accident...It's happened twice in 20 years, I think. In any case, I'm glad he's gonna be fine.

Fortunately, there was a doctor standing behind the glass behind the net where it happened. I thought that incident brought about an equipment change that gave better neck protection. |

I remember Berard getting hit in the eye with Hossa's stick and that Canadien Mcsth I think fracturing his larynx blocking a shot and almost dying, both very scary, but nothing like this, whew

The famous Clint Malarchuk incident also happened in Buffalo. That video could be found on You Tube, .... if you dare.
Pretty weird that both incident happened in Buffalo. I'm 43 and any hint of the neck being sliced (movies, sports) still results in me instinctively covering my neck and lowering my head to my chest. Everytime!! |

I have met Malarchuk personally after meeting with him through a hockey camp I attended in Las Vegas, he told me about the incident in Buffalo and how scary it was because it all happened in a flash. I think he still owns a ranch in North Las Vegas and also has a place in Idaho as well.
