Peterson looked like he might be one of the best prospects at any position to come into the NFL in a long time. Countless others here and around the web saw the same thing I did when he came out. I really thought that the same NFL scouts who ogled the overrated Reggie Bush would do all they could to take AD, with ample evidence available that AD was probably the best collegiate back in decades and employed a style built for the pros.
Some here like to lay claim to their projections like they are some sort of prophet (see recent examples like Patrick Willis, etc) when its pretty much common knowledge that a player is good coming into the NFL. That stuff is for people trying to prove that they arent stuffing their drawers. We all knew that AD was going to be good. But THIS good? He's even exceding my expectations, which were high to begin with. Here's an article on his wicked pro bowl performance to cap off a brilliant rookie season: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...ohn&id=3240240 |

Lets just do a preemptive strike and send this to the butt now.
Llama, how obvious can you be? You need to find a new hero to worship....and I am not talking about 'All Day'. |

This guy isnt a hero, he's a football player. When a guy deserves being propped up against the tide, I am happy to contribute. It seems as though I wont have to do that much with AD because AD has been so good that people cant really ignore him or minimize his accomplishments. |

Is he famous enough that everyone can call him by his correct nickname "AD" now?? Drives me nuts when people call him AP!

Man disappears down the stretch when his team is pushing for the playoffs, but sure stepped up when it really mattered, eh?
Still an impressive rookie season of course but steady on |

As for the original poster... did he really just try and convince us that he's done more in predicting AP's abilities than Slap did in predicting Willis'? If you'd asked me which was more likely, Peterson assuming a starting role as a rookie and then taking a starting role and getting 1350 yds (which is impressive but we're not even talking 100 ypg) or Willis getting 174 freakin tackles and 4 sacks, I'd have went with Peterson hands down. From week 10 on, Peterson had a whopping 305 yds. Whoop dee doo... |

The original post had nothing to do with AD...and everything to do with wanting to be publicly beaten down by Slap.
Kinda like the felon that just can't stop hooking up with the men when he gets released...yet whines how he was abused in jail. Pathetic. |

he missed 2 games, which puts it right near 100 ypg played.. |

First, he didn't play in every single game. Second, he split carries with a decent back in Chester Taylor. Third, he had a somewhat serious injury to his knee that he probably should've let heal a little bit longer. |

Running backs are like nascar tires. "Run them hard and fast and have a spare set when needed. No sense in saving Peterson, he could blow out a knee the first game of the year next year. |

[QUOTE=tsiguy96;1880368]but when the guy was labeled injury prone and then misses 2 games his rookie season, you have to tack that under expected. You can't extrapolate (sp?) when you expected an injury to hit.

Would be nice to have a running back like him on our team. I'm all for doing whatever it takes this off season to get the talent like what Minnesota has on their O-Line. Did they have 3 O-Line players at the pro bowl yesterday? Draft best OT at our position and sign best talent available in free agency and draft Wells next year. We'd be set on offense.

You can give Peterson credit for missed games, having to split carries, etc. but that doesn't mean he accomplished more. Possibly means he accomplished less based on being able to play the Tatum role occasionally. I distinctly remember the first game he "started", he sucked. He did better in starts after that but was inconsistent the whole way. Take Chicago for example of inconsistency, he went 20-224 the first time and 20-78 the second time. He lit up SD for the single game record and then we held him to 3.3 ypc. |

Their scorching the league offensively can be attributed to some combination of Jackson at QB and underacheivers/underachievers at WR. I can never figure out stupid I before E words... |

Really though, think how good they would be with a QB like Jay and a WR with the skill set of Marshall. We have all of the pieces at the skill positions,(if Walker stops pouting and stays) we just need a line that can block and a great RB to return to the great Bronco offense of the late 90's. If Walker stays we are solid at WR (still should probably draft a player somewhere due to Walkers injury history), TE and QB. Our line needs upgraded and I'd like to get a back that can handle the full load. We'd be unstoppable. I think we are about 2 years away from being dominant on both sides of the ball. |
