I dont agree with code pink , though I would do everyone of them .....
But I also dont agree with we have to stay in Iraq .........The British once thought that way , the Brits believed they had the best way of life , other cultures couldnt do anything on their own ....... well we saw how that ended

It's because of the British that things are so F'ed up in the middle east.
Iraq is just an artificial country created by the British after they carved
up the Ottoman empire. The Israeli/Palestinian conflict is another
legacy of the British. The Muslim Brotherhood spawned groups like
al-Quada. It was formed in response to the decadence in Egypt
when the British controlled Egypt. The list goes on and on.
There is a reason Muslims there are so pissed off with westerners
and it goes beyond just religious differences.
Who the hell knows what legacy our being there now is going
to have on future generations.

You don't have to look to far into our past to see what migth happen if we leave Iraq. When the Soviets left Afghanistan, we pulled all support for them as well. A decade of gang warfare gave rise to Al-Qeada and the Taliban.

That's the risk with Iraq. We pull out and if the thing collapses (and I for one think it would at this point) we're left with a west-hating, anti human rights, playground for terrorists and oppression.

There was an article running today about the growing problem with 'honor killings' in which thousands of women have been tortured, abused, and killed for such horrific offenses as wearing makeup. I would hate to see the people who perpetuate that culture sieze power in Iraq. Not to mention what it would due to oil.

My mom always made me clean up my messes when I was a kid, and this seems like the same thing. We made the mess, we have to clean it up.

You know the irony is Saddam kept his thumb down hard on these religious
fanatics. And the women there were free to go about their business for the
most part. But in a cynical ploy to steal Iraq's oil we were sold a bill of goods
about how we were going in to save these very people from the evil dictator.

Yeah, it's too late to put the cork back in the bottle, but my mom taught
me to stay away from the stove so I wouldn't get burned in the
first place.

What do you think it is right now?

A baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet-loving Jeffersonian democracy?
