With their second pick in the fifth round
The New Joisey Jets once again reach into the LSU pool and pull out
A Special Teams Assassin!
SURFER BOY!

Craig Stelz, S, LSU, 6’2”, 210

Check out this hit!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnVujO7b8kg

Steltz is a very instinctive player that is always around the ball. He is strong, tough, and plays very physical. He has great size for the position and the football smarts to be a player. He has a motor that never stops and he is a good tackler. He plays well against the run and around the line of scrimmage. Steltz was a key player for the National Champion LSU Tigers. With the 147th pick the Philadelphia Eagles select:

Darius Reynaud, WR, West Virginia

Height: 5-09 Weight: 201

Positives: Short, compact build. ... Looks more like a running back than a receiver. ... Dangerous with the ball in his hands in the open field. ... Good lateral agility to make defenders miss and can accelerate into the open field for the big play. ... Reliable pass catcher who shows the body control and aggression to fight for the ball in a crowd despite his lack of preferred size. ... Can track the ball over his shoulder. ... Physical blocker despite his size.

Negatives:
Lacks the preferred height to play on the outside. ... Despite his rare agility and deep speed, is only a marginal route-runner. ... Flashes the ability to separate, but relies on his athleticism and hasn't shown the work ethic in the past to focus on this area.

Spectacular open-field runner with the strong hands and potential as a route-runner to develop into a dangerous slot receiver at the next level. Reynaud operated as the third option for West Virginia, but with defenses focusing on the running attack, his ability as a receiver and big-play threat was the lightning rod that made the Mountaineer offense so versatile. Reynaud is shorter than scouts would like, but he has a strong build and plays with both toughness and physicality.--NFLDS

PHI says: We like Darius as a slot guy and most importantly as a KR/PR prospect. He blocks very well, has incredible vision, and has great hands. We look forward to the versatility he brings....

With the 149th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select....

Paul Hubbard
Position: WR
College: Wisconsin

6'3", 221 pound wide receivers who run a mid 4.3 to low 4.4 don't grow on trees. Some questions from the combine were dispelled pretty well at his pro day where he also put up a 39.5" vertical, and even then he's been consistently ranked as a late 3rd/early 4th round selection.

Picking Hubbard continues the Cowboys trend of adding premium talent, even if it might not be 100% ready to contribute or have an open spot waiting. Our steam is pretty stacked as it is and we're looking to build the kind of roster depth that will keep us at the top for years to come. Giving Hubbard a couple of seasons to improve his route running and ball skills as well as develop chemistry with Romo will let him hit the ground running when he replaces Owens as the team's go to WR around 2010 or 2011.

Pick made at 9:17 CST, WaBronco is on the clock.

Last post offtopic from picks but if I recall correctly WA, you traded pick 150 to me earlier in the draft in the J. Stewart deal. Tennessee should be on the clock and i'll have my pick up between beers in the UNC/Louisville game.

With the 151st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft....the Jacksonville Jaguars select:

Letroy Guion, DT, Florida State

Letroy Guion
Height: 6-33/8 | Weight: 303 | 40-Time: 5.36

Official Bio

Strengths:
Good size with the frame to get bigger...Real athletic..Good range and does a nice job in pursuit and has a burst...Explosive with terrific quickness and a burst...Very strong...Can get some penetration..Is solid versus the run...Still has some upside.

Weaknesses:
Wasn't very productive...Pass rush repertoire is limited...Questionable awareness and instincts..Inconsistent and disappears at times..Plays with bad technique and leverage...Doesn't have a lot of experience...Might have some character concerns.

Notes:
Last name is pronounced "GUY-in"...Was only a starter for a little over a year and then came out as a junior...Was one of the 'Nole players involved in the academic cheating scandal....Would have been better off going back to school for his senior year but is an interesting guy who has some tools to work with...A bit of a project who will most likely be picked a little earlier than he should be based on potential.

The Baltiomre Ravens have traded up to select:

Mike Hart, RB, Michigan

Strengths:
Natural runner with great vision and instincts...Has good balance..More quick than fast...Aggressive runner...A decent blocker...Reliable hands and can be a weapon out of the backfield...Rarely fumbles...Real productive...Tough and strong...A hard worker...Extremely competitive...Smart....A team leader with excellent intangibles.

Weaknesses:
Has battled injuries throughout his career and durability is a major concern...Does not have the ideal size that you look for...Timed speed is well below average...Not very elusive...Isn't real powerful...Has a lot of wear and tear on his body...Is not a big play threat...Limited upside and may never be more than a backup in the pros.

Notes:
Holds the national high school record for career touchdowns with 204..A four-year starter in the Big Ten and is Michigan's all-time leading rusher...A good all-around player who does everything well..Enjoyed a prolific college career.

With the 155th pick in the 2008 NFL draft the Dallas Cowboys select....

Steve Justice
Position: C
College: Wake Forest

Hard working blue collar center with good football instincts and he's put on a little size since college. While not a perfect fit in terms of what the Cowboys generally like in linemen (i.e. being huge) he's huge value here and offers a more technical alternative on the OL which might help given the propensity for poor snaps and false starts from Dallas' line.

Tyler Polumbus

Scouts Grade: 54
View by: Player | NCAA School | Position | NFL Team | Flag | All Ranked Players | NFL Draft History
You are signed into Insider and have access to the exclusive draft content below.

Strengths: Plays with good overall balance, takes proper angles to defenders and is an effective finesse blocker that does a sound job of positioning body to cut off defenders. Shows good burst when attacking the second level, has the body control to adjust to moving targets and big enough to engulf most linebackers. Effective when cut blocking and able to get defenders off of their feet. Quick out of stance, gets into pass sets quickly and shows solid lateral movement when mirroring pass rushers. Has a wide wingspan and uses his long arms to ride defenders past the pocket. Has good size and is tall enough to bulk up.

Weaknesses: Doesn't explode off the ball, fails to deliver a violent initial punch and needs to be more physical at the point of contact. Center of gravity is high, struggles to get under defender's pads and struggles to get movement when drive blocking as a result. Plays with a narrow base and slides off too many blocks. Bends at the waist rather than the knees and has some problems holding ground working against bull rushers. Can overset in pass protection and makes it too easy for defenders to shoot the inside gap at times.

Overall: Polumbus redshirted his first year at Colorado (2003). He appeared in three games in 2004 and played in all 13 of the Buffaloes' games as a sophomore (2005), including starts in the first two. He started all 12 games as a junior (2006) and didn't miss a snap as a senior in 2007 (13 games, all starts). In 2005, Polumbus was slowed by an ankle sprain but missed no games. He had surgery after the 2006 season to relieve a chronic shoulder injury. Polumbus needs to work on staying lower and adding upper body strength but he has the frame to add weight and strength without losing overall athleticism so he projects as a fifth round pick.

Strengths: Has above-average initial quickness for a guard and can get into position when technique is sound. Plays with a mean streak, delivers a violent punch and can jar defenders at the point of contact. Works from the snap until the whistle and can sustain blocks once locked on. Has adequate lower body strength and flashes the ability to drive defenders. Takes sound angles to downfield blocks and can get into position at the second level. Keeps head up and generally does a good job of sliding off combo blocks to pick up linebackers. Shows good awareness in pass protection and can adjust to line stunts and blitzes. Though bends at the waist rather than the knees, has good size and can hold ground against bull rushers. Lined up at tackle in college and is somewhat versatile. While missed three games after undergoing an appendectomy in 2004 started the last 39 games of his collegiate career and is durable.

Weaknesses: Doesn't always get hands inside the defender's frame and slides off too many blocks. Takes too many false steps and has some problems preventing penetration despite quickness as a result. Plays too high and is going to have problems driving two-gap defensive tackles off the ball. Quicker than fast and while can effectively trap is going to have problems turning the corner when asked to pull. Takes to long to get set, can struggle to slide with defenders and would likely struggle if left on an island at tackle in the NFL so should move to guard. Played at a small school and there is some concern about ability to adjust to the speed at the NFL game level.

Overall: Rinehart redshirted his first season at Northern Iowa (2003). He started the first five games of his freshman season (2004) and played as a reserve in the Panthers' final three. He played a total of 47 games (44 starts) at left tackle in his four seasons ('04-'07), starting in a consecutive 39 games to close out his career. He was named a first-team All-America selection in 2007. Rinehart missed three games in '04 after undergoing laparoscopic appendectomy. Rinehart is a small-school prospect that dominated at the Division I-AA level and has the skill set to develop into an effective starting NFL guard. However, there are still concerns about his ability to make the substantial jump to the NFL and he needs to improve his footwork as well as his hand placement so he projects as a late fourth round pick or early fifth round pick.
Rinehart was already selected with the first pick in the 5th round.

The Rams are happy to select Guard Donald Thomas of Connecticut.

Quote:
Donald Thomas might have exploded at the perfect time. The senior from Connecticut has always been thought of as a potential star at his position, but in the back end of his last year and through the post season and all-star games he has turned that upside into great performance. Thomas is what I would call the star on the rise for this position at the 2008 combine. He has the skills, and now he is using them.

Scouting Report

Pros: He has the quickness to make it to the second level of blocking.

Cons: Needs to work on his pass-blocking skills.

Overall: He is on the radar of most every team in the NFL; he will find a home.

Rams Draft picks
15. Safety Kenny Phillips Miami.
33. LB Dan Connor PSU.
65. WR Harry Douglas Louisville.
76. WR Earl Bennett Vanderbilt.
97. CB Orlando Scandrick Boise State.
128. DT Andre Fluellen Florida State.
137. OT William Robinson San Diego State.
