Hmmm...it doesn't sound like either guy is particularly well-liked by the "real" conservatives.

I hear some say but if you dont vote for McCain its just like voting for Hilary --- I understand, but I am also asking myself how much can I comprimise before I become a sell-out? For me Romney is a comprimise already. McCain takes it too far -- I cant let go of McCain's work to destroy our border -- so If McCain wins I vote for the third party guy. McCain will win Utah in the general election, but a Huckabee VP does not help him there, or Idaho, Montana, and WY (not that these states amount to a hill of electoral beans.)

Its a backroom deal struck by McCain and Huck...doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if Huck stays in, McCain will make him his running mate. And a vote for Ron Paul is NOT a vote for Hillary...its a vote AGAINST McCain and Huckabee.
Just the fact that Huck is all over Romney and won't peep a critical word about McCain says all you need to know. Son of a b****. And the moronic 'Hucksters' need to realize that a vote for Huckaturd IS a vote for McCain. Especially if Romney is their second choice. |

Why do people think running mates will always be some other person running for President? By the way that doesn't happen very often anymore. McCain won't pick Huckabee if he wins the nomination.

It makes zero electoral sense for McCain to put Huckabee on the ticket. Huckabee doesn't bring on any states that McCain will need.
I think it will probably be Charlie Crist or maybe Mark Sanford. Maybe the Republican Obama, Bobby Jindal. |

Or maybe they just don't think like you. I'm just trying to remember the last time the vice pres was picked from the pool of men/women that were running against you in the election. When was the last time the running mate was chosen from among the canidates in the election?

McCain owes Huckabee a big favor for essentially securing him the nomination. Plus Huckabee helps with the church people who don't pay attention to anything beyond gays, abortion, and good preacher jokes.

I would not vote for any ticket that had Huckabee on it. Even if somehow he were on a ticket with Ron Paul. I have had enough of dim witted religious twats.

I just don't see it. I understand that Huckabee is "stealing" Romney voters. But a lot of his voters wouldn't go for Romney anyway because he's mormon (sorry to the Mormons around here, but you have to know it's true - there are a lot of Americans who simply won't vote for a Mormon). We're finding out in the Paul forums that a lot of Huckabee supporters are planning to support Paul once Huckabee leaves. In any case, Hucakbee doesn't deliver any states that McCain needs. Arnold does, but it's illegal for him to run (I expect them to try and change that in the next 10 years to accomodate Arnold - I expect Arnold to play a significant role in the RNC). Charlie Crist definitely does. Jeb Bush also would help McCain. Bobby Jindal would be a significant add to the ticket. Mark Sanford is a rising star in the party. Huckabee is a one hit wonder who was largely a media creation. He's not part of the Republican establishment though, and thus won't play much of a role from here on out. There was a time when it looked like he could have helped out the Rudy ticket, but you'll note that once the establishment finally realized that Rudy was sunk, Huckabee sunk right along with him. They don't have a need for him any longer, except to maybe play the good soldier, and endorse McCain in exchange for a nice speech at the RNC. |

The one not named Kerry
, I voted Bush in the Last 2 Baj, and i dont agree with everything he has done by no means , and MAYBE if Kerry wasn't the Dems nod 4 years ago they may have got me ... "i'm 32" only voted twice President ... I couldn't get past post Vietnam Kerry , and he is not likeable at all ... i thought Edwards was who they should have ran last time ... anyone but Kerry ... |
