The reason I ask is my wife and I disagree completely. How does it work out or do you even discuss politics with your "mate".

My girlfriend grew up as a Democrat simply because her dad didn't like Nixon and changed parties before she was born. Political topics haven't been an issue up to now, as she has been fairly apathetic about the presidential race. It MAY become an issue once October/November rolls around, though. We'll have to wait and see...

She typically votes for democrats but she see the obvious choice for president this time and supports Ron Paul.

We usually sit down together and go over the voter's pamphlet, decide together on the issues/initiatives, etc. and then mark our ballots (vote by mail). It's rare for us to have any differences in viewpoints, but occasionally, we'll disagree and laugh over the fact that we just canceled out each other's vote.

She does not pay much attention to the canidates but her personality and beliefs tend to lean to the left. I tell her she an independant due to her stance on gun control.

I got that beat...

My wife is a born-again creationist... Imagine our arguments.

We don't even bother trying to discuss politics

One reason which brought this subject to the forefront is that during a discussion last night regarding the caucus next week, I found out that my candidates position will actually hurt my wifes' companys' income potential.

My wife is a Packers fan and a Democrat but once I talk to her on a non emotional level, she sees the reasoning of conservative side. She is Catholic to the bone so she doesnt like abortion but I dont think she cares for illegal aliens as same for me. As a teacher, she seems to fall in step with whatever they say but to me, most teachers are against illegal aliens as the students are so low from their parents either not caring or not helping with their homework (could be language barrier). How I solve it sometimes is that I dont remind her of voting days so she cant cancel out my correct vote. Funny thing is that she voted for Bush this last time and I went 3rd party. See, a conservative republican that doesnt like Bush (and I didnt vote for him in the primary the first time).

That never stopped unions! My Dad's union backed Carter even after he stated he would cut the defense budget. My Dad got laid off until Reagan came into office. Nice Union but if it doesnt have a "D" by their name, they cant support them.

My wife is a Billary fan. Every once in a while, she reaches over and pops me one in the head.

My Wife's leaning toward Obama right now... I'm undecided, but I really like Ron Paul, believe it or not.

Current GF is apolitical, but if you get her talking about issues it becomes clear that she's a liberal at heart.
