Due to our "wonderful" political process, many of us (especially the RP supporters) will face the dilemna of their candidate not getting the nomination.
What will you do if / when your #1 candidate for president doesnt make the ballot. Who gets your vote, or will you not vote in protest.

I'm still hoping that RP will start a third party run. If not, I'll do the same thing I've always done, hold my nose and vote for better of two bad choices. I haven't truly believed in a presidential candidate since RFK.

This wont go over well

It depends. If Billary is on the ballot I'll vote against her. She might not even be as bad/evil as I think she is but my gut gets a really bad feeling when looking at her (insert jokes here )

Also we at the very least need some new blood in the WH. NO more Bush and no more Clintons.

My second option (without Billary) very well might be Obama.

I think I'll stop endorsing a candidate until the general election. All the candidates I supported in the past have since dropped out of the race...

with whom? Why?

I'm actually interested what the majority of voter will do.

I'm undecided as to my response, because most likely my candidate will not get the nomination. So I'm in the same boat as the RP nuts!

I did not mean your thread. I ment my response would not go over well. The whole "voting just to vote against Billary"

It's an honest answer. I may just capaign against certain nominees if Edwards doesn't make the ballot. I DO know who I don't want residing in the WH!

I'd like to crawl in the same snuggie with McKennedy and I'd like to crawl in the same snuggie with Huck.

This year I'm voting for a guy I believe in, whether they have a shot at winning or not.

Ive said it before, but I'd rather see Hillary or Obama get in there than either of the 2 clowns running for the GOP nomination.

We will have to see how this goes... Right now all of the candidates have their flaws. Keep in mind the focus of this debate is going to change quite a bit as the economy continues to slow and housing doesn't turn the corner like everyone is hoping it will.

So far it looks like Hillary has a good shot at getting the nomination
so I'm not too worried. It think as more gets out about the Rezco
thing, it will pretty much seal Obama's fate. And Edwards is just
a dead man walking anymore.

I'm strongly supporting McCain, but if he doesn't win the nomination, I will probably still (albeit unenthusiastically) vote for the GOP nominee unless it is Romney. If it is Romney, I will not vote in the general election on the Presidential part of the ballot. I'm not going to vote for Clinton under any scenario, either. I'll just leave it blank if its Clinton vs. Romney.

I would vote against McCain and I would vote against the huckster. Beyond that I don't know.

There are aspects of Dr. Paul's platform that I agree with (I respect that Paul is a fiscal conservative), but as I said, I am supporting Sen. McCain.

We all know who you are supporting, this thread is about your second choice that is what prompted my Paul question.

Actually given that I live mostly in Mexico McCain would be best for me personally but he would be disastrous for the country.

Well, my second choice was Fred (before he dropped out)...in the beginning I thought he was an empty suit, but I had studied him a bit more..specifically, some of his proposals regarding entitlement programs...I was very impressed with Fred's hourlong discussion with the media about his SS reform program on CSPAN awhile back, it was very detailed and I started appreciating Fred more in the debates when he was talking about those difficult entitlement reform issues that other people have not been talking about....I disagreed with Fred's tax plan because I think its irresponsible to be cutting taxes with this deficit...recession or not, but overall, after being critical of him in the beginning, I warmed up to him more later on, ofcourse I still liked McCain better, but I developed a healthy respect for Fred over time.

I didn't like Fred Thompson because he lobbied for a dictator.
