Default James Davis undeclares, goes back to Clemson

NCAA | Davis returning to Clemson
Fri, 18 Jan 2008 14:38:49 -0800

ESPNews reports Clemson University RB James Davis will return to Clemson for his senior year and will not enter the 2008 NFL Draft.

Was hoping we could steal him, but wise choice by him IMO.

With the deep RB class, I don't blame him. Who is he competing with next year for first back off the board? Chris Wells? Knowshon Moreno?

Moreno will be RS SO doubt he declares, although he and DeMarco Murray both could.

his teammte CJ Spiller will be a JR and a how possiblity to compete against, Spiller is more of a Reggie Bush HR hitter so not sure what his stock is like from that.

RB looks pretty weak next year, here is who I though of off the top of my head.

RB
Marlon Lucky, Nebraska
Arian Foster, Tennessee
Jorvorskie Lane, Texas A&M (probably a FB)
Calvin Dawson, Louisiana-Monroe
Javon Ringer, Michigan State
Ian Johnson, Boise State
Antone Smith, Florida State
C.J. Spiller, Clemson*
Tyrell Sutton, Northwestern
Jeremiah Johnson, Oregon
Kory Sheets, Purdue
Brad Lester, Auburn
Keegan Herring, Arizona State
Chris Wells, Ohio State*
PJ Hill, Wisconsin*
Ben Tate, Auburn*
James Patton, Kansas State*
Stafon Johnson, USC*
Javarris James, Miami*
Branden Ore, Virginia Tech
DeMarco Murray, Oklahoma **
Knowshon Moreno, Georgia**

We should go with Tashard Choice anyways. Better fit, has shown he can be a full-time workhorse.

Wasn't Ian Johnson talking about coming out this year?

disagree on the better fit part, both are good fits IMO... Dantrell Savage would fit our scheme very well also.

As would Allen Patrick IMO, we will find a RB no problem in this draft.

IMO James Davis was a perfect fit for our system.

As a Clemson fan, this is excellent news. With Davis coming back, we now have 17 of 22 starters returning from last years squad, plus what is expected to be a top 10 recruiting class coming in. Maybe we can still get him in Bronco uniform next season, but if Bowden and Spence use him properly I suspect he'll be out of our range.

As a Florida fan I am hoping it keeps Jamie Harper from choosing Florida over Clemson.

Clemson has Andre Ellington too coming in, suppose to be a lil like Spiller.

I love James Davis.
