So, im watching this classic game last night.

Nebraska kicks a field goal in the 4th quarter and it was clearly missed left.

The refs called it good, they showed the replay a couple of times.

Anyone else remember it or have video? I want to see that kick again.

If that FG decided the game, that's as bad as the 5th down. Worse, actually, when you consider the cirumstances surrounding it.

Neither OU or NU went on to win a national title as a result, though, unlike the 5th down year.

Hater.

Actually, for the trillionth time, I would like to explain why CU was as much a victim of the 5th down as was Missouri: With 8 seconds and counting, QB Charles Johnson clearly looked over at the down marker - saw "3" - and spiked the ball. Had he seen "4," he would NOT have done that, and it's anybody's guess whether we would've scored on the play. BTW - they just replayed the 5th down game on ESPN-Classic, and the announcers (stupid Les Shapiro) were even more confused ... he was callind 3rd down "1st down." It was an absolute ZOO there at the end:
  • Colorado had to return to the field from the lockerrom several minutes later in order to run the comversion after TD, because the NCAA rules said at the time that a conversion could potentially be blocked and returned for 1 point.
  • Before CU could take the conversion snap and kneel, they had to clear the field of the Missouri fans and students who had swarmed onto it.
  • They almost had to move the conversion kneeldown to the other goalline - because the Missouri fans actually pulled down the goalposts. That's right ... the Missouri fans pulled down the goalposts after a loss.

haha, I don't really have any bitterness about that play at all. I actually kind of enjoy how much it pisses off Mizzou fans. They feel like they get screwed over at the end of every big near win. This year's BCS situation hasn't helped.

A lot of words for something as simple as the Refs blowing the call.
