Default Geometry question

hey!

i really have trouble paying attention in geometry, i dont know what to do on some of the problems..
so heres a pretty easy one, an explanation of what to do would be nice!
ill get you started, 90=(3p-6) and now just solve for p....

umm...that would be 32....add 6 to both sides...divide by 3.

Where did "p" come from? Maybe that's the difficulty. Threw the dude a curve. Usually you solve for x or y.
