Default Pat Sims

Auburn defensive tackle Pat Sims is entering early.

Thoughts or comments?

Pat Sims is leaving Auburn a year early and will submit his name for the NFL draft after a season when he emerged as a tough-to-handle defensive tackle.

Pat Sims
The junior announced his intentions Tuesday. He had considered the move for some time, initially refusing to discuss the issue before reluctantly denying the possibility before the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Sims finished the season with 37 tackles, 11 of which were for losses, including 4 ½ sacks. The 37 tackles were the 11th best total on the team. He was named the defensive MVP of the bowl game after making five tackles, three for a loss.

One of the most underrated defensive tackles in college football. He gave a lot of SEC teams all they could handle and was a big part of Auburns success on defense.

My only problem with him is that he redshirted his first year, didn't get on the field his second and then balled his third year... would be nice to see more of a track record. DT crop is weak this year though.

I remember a couple of years ago some outfit did a recap on Defensive lineman in the draft who only showed production in their final year... EXTREMELY high bust rate. I'll try and find the original source of this...

See Balmer. Im the same way typically but I think its more of a cause for alarm with seniors since its not THAT uncommon for sophomores to not play.

I think Balmer played, he just didn't really produce.

I think they said at one time that Sims quit the team too, only to later rejoin.

I saw an interview with him. Seems like a smart ass sort of. We'll see.
