Hi guys,
Not all of you know me too well, but there is a few. I live in Phoenix and am originally from Denver. I left the area after the military in 1998. My father a United Airlines employee was diagnosed with Brain Cancer Christmas 1997 and passed away in 1999 after fighting the Glioblastoma for 2 years. Well, it's been some time. I found I out Dec 26th, my mother has the same thing. She has the same brain tumors, 2 of them in fact. 1 the size of a golfball and another growing mass the size of a marble. So, I'm strong, but i'm sad. This is my mother, I don't have any brothers or sisters. In the heirarchy of my family, it comes down to me. I have great Aunts and Uncles. I have been down this road and could use a miracle. I'm a young guy age 33, and I'd like to have at least one of my parents. Now, i'm at the point of begging God for an exception to the norm. I could use a little help from my friends. Your energy, prayers, whatever you want to call it would sure be nice. thank you folks. mrpeepers. |

I definitely will keep your Mom in my prayers, MrPeepers. I am very saddened to hear that, hopefully they can get those tumors out of there quick.

You got it Mr. Peeper. I'm back in Denver myself if you need a helping hand with something. I get the impression you are in the middle of a move?

Update!
Well, it's been 7 days since I found out. The MRI is very ugly. My mom has one golfball size tumor and one large marble size closer to the center of the brain. She will undergo surgery in the next 4 days and has the chance of permanant communication damage. It has to be done. The doctor who cared for my father said these tumors are worse. In a sense, i'm much calmer this time around and can appreciate what little time we have without panicing. We all have an end, at least I can prepare for my parents. I told my mother the other night that she's fortunate that she can receive so much love she'll be sick of it before she ever goes. My mother never properly executed her will and now i'm in the middle of alot of legal questions. I got a will executed with all the medical necessities within 4 days, I felt pretty good about that. She remarried about 4 years ago and i've been in a power struggle with her husband the day I landed in Denver. It's a long story, but I'm doing the things that had to be done. So, the road for my mother is surgery, followed by chemo and radiation therapy, followed by more surgery and chemo. I have been down this road before. Fortunately, I have an incredible family of aunts, uncles, and cousins to help in the process. I have few people in Denver, but I grew up here and have many friends of hers and mine to help along the way. I feel like a veteran cancer caregiver and that seems very strange to be without collecting a paycheck for it. I appreciate everyones concern, private messages of encouragement and genuine support albeit a few tailgates and messages be the connection. Thanks so much, i'll keep everyone posted. |
