Default We gave them 10 points on timeouts.

Talk about stupid calls that could have lost us the game. First Shanahan tried his famous trick of icing the kicker and he misses badly. Then he converts. He needs to save that call for game losing or tying field goals, not long field goals from 56 yards to end the half.
Then to add insult to injury, Nate Webster calls time out before the ball is snapped on which continuation of the play sees us force a 4th down field attempt. But OH NO, now the previous play where Young was called down on the 1 is now reviewable and Tennesee gets a touchdown because of it.

Stupidity, pure and simple and we let Tennessee get within 7 before we finally wake up in the 2nd half.

Yeah, it would be a lot easier on coaches and players if they knew what would've happened if they didn't call the timeout beforehand like you seemed to.

The Titans got screwed on 7 of those to begin with... in the end they got the touchdown they deserved. Hard to be to upset with that.

Well, they would have kicked a FG on the second one. So, it's really seven points.

In a year where we have looked a lot worse you would think people would try and enjoy a hard fought win once in a while.

The points we may have given away on timeouts was evened up by the points the Titans Receivers having Crisco hands.

We also could of played a lot better when we got smoked by San Diego and Detroit. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, at the end of the day we overcame bad calls, crappy defensive play, turnovers, etc and got the win. Bet you werent b****ing when we beat the Faid on a similar call were you?

What is your problem? Stupid timeouts are made all the time. What I'm talking about isn't any different than bad defensive plays, turnovers or anything else we could improve on. You make it sound like I'm ticked that we won or something. Why call a timeout to ice the kicker on a 56 yard fieldgoal that won't give them the lead going into halftime? Why call a timeout that lets a play be reviewed? I agree, Vince did score a touchdown, but how many times have we been on the wrong end of a screwed up play. It just boils down to giving up to many 2nd chances thats all.

Uh, no. Mike Tirico was talking about those two timeouts during the game.

The point is we're in first place. Quit nitpicking at stuff and enjoy the win.

Missing what point?

The one where the timeout meant a second attempt at a field goal?
It was ok when a timeout won the game against Oakland but tonight it's stupid?
Did you really think it would work every time??

Or was it the one taken when the D looked confused and the Titans were rushing to get a quick play off?
Nothing wrong at all. The Titans got the TD they earned and we don't have to listen to:
'Oh, but it might have been very different for the Titans had the refs not blown a TD at a critical stage of the game....the Broncos were lucky!!'

Bottom line is we won the game without any doubts at all.

Yes, stupid timeouts are always called. So why bother posting this thread then? Your not even making sense now. There are a lot of dumb things that happen throughout NFL football every week. So what if we helped them out? **** happens. The bottom line tonight my friend is we did the "other" things necessary to finish with a win. There is no positive to pointing out the mistakes we have been making all year long. And guess what? It probably wont be the last. It was a risky thing calling the timeout before the kick but thats how it goes. The reason shanny did it was because it worked against Oakland. Thats it. There is no secret besides that and he will probably do it again somewhere down the line.

Geez, get off his case people. It's perfectly fine to review game management even after a win. BTW, as I suspected Bironas shanked the first FG in part because he heard the whistle and knew the play was dead.

Obviously because the player saw something wrong on the defense set up.
Would you have felt better if he hadn't called the time-out, the defense
wasn't properly set up, and the Titans had scored anyway?

The time out before the half was called because we had one to burn , and it might have iced the kicker...hindsight is 20-20.

The Time out after the non TD play was called because our defense was confused and Webster saw it. Again...hindsight is 20 -20 .

I can't fault either call....it just worked against us in both cases.

This is a perfectly legitimate topic. We're discussing the game strategy. After all, there's a thread about how Ian Gold sucks and he just happened to make the game-clinching interception.

As far as the thread topic is concerned, I couldn't figure out why Tennessee was able to challenge the TD. Then, I saw Nate Webster called a timeout because he saw something wrong with the formation before the ball was snapped for the next play. As mad as I was with him at that time, I know he wasn't thinking about the Broncos getting away with a TD that should have been called in the first place. He was trying not to give up a big play on that current snap. Shanahan, meanwhile, was a little more befuddling. It wasn't a FG with the game on the line and it was 56 yards. He should have just let the chips fall where they may on that play.

Honestly, I think that Bironas heard the whistles before the kick, so you can't say he missed it outright. They were loud, and right before the snap. He might have missed it, but it seemed to me he didn't try because of the whistle.

Well, the timeouts won us a game against oakland, and this game it didn't cost us the game. Get over it. Also, Nate Webster called the 2nd timeout, it wasn't like Shanny was calling for it. Some people really crack me up, always trying to find something to complain about.

I agree. Bironas is a good kicker. I think he heard the whistle and probably didn't put much into the kick. Who knows. I kinda chuckled when the whole thing went down. We won the game. We're in a tie for first place.

EXACTLY.

Funny how when Shanny calls a timeout against Oakland he is a genius but when he does it last night and it fails all of a sudden its a stupid call. Too many ****ing drama queens on this site.
