didn't you hear, Merriman can't be blocked by just one guy, much less a RB? This must be fake.

I've been a Maurice Drew fan since he was in high school. The first time I saw him was when Concord De La Salle came down here and beat Long Beach Poly. Drew ran all over the place.
When he was at UCLA, I felt that he was every bit as good as Reggie Bush. They both brought similar skills to the table. Bush was able to do it with an all star cast around him. Drew didn't have all that and he was still balling out of control. Whether it was running the ball, catching it out of the back field, or returning kickoffs and punts, he was a big play waiting to happen. If Drew was on USC, they would have won just as much. If Bush was on UCLA, they still would have been an average team. |

That's pretty funny.
In fairness, most of that stuff looks worse than it is. You get leverage on a guy, and it looks like you're launching him out of his cleats. The big exception is some of the over-the-middle stuff with safeties and pass catchers. It really seems, though, that Merriman isn't the same guy he was last year. Of course, there is anecdotal evidence that would suggest a reason for that. But it would be unfair for us to jump to conclusions. ![]() |

I love how Dierdorf goes from saying he got "knocked out" to saying he was "caught off balance" when he figures out its Meriman.

MJD is a stud. Carlos Polk rocked his world on a kickoff return and it was Polk who didn't get up. That dude is made of something more dense than flesh and bone. What a great little player.

He isn't "off-balance," either. Look at it again. Both players are knees-bent and squaring up. That was as man v. man as it gets.
No excuses, Shawn. Now, get in the kitchen and make Maurice some breakfast. ![]() |

Jones-Drew has scored 23 touchdowns in his short NFL career and boasts a 5.4 yards per carry. Reggie Bush has scored 15 touchdowns and has a mediocre 3.6 yards per carry.
If you only watched ESPN you would have never heard of Maurice Jones-Drew and you would think Reggie Bush is one of the top-3 running backs in the NFL. You would also think that Matt Leinart is a much better quarterback than Jay Cutler. |

funny how dude went from all-time great to run of the mill so fast. can't remember the last time i even heard a mention of him making even a routine tackle on sportscenter after even a fart from the guy would lead to lt comparisons, ie. "look how hard merriman fought off that non-existent block, he cured cancer with that pile-on stat compiling tackle! what a great celebration after a mere 15 yard gain!". guess everyone is due an off-season here and there, must be norv turner's fault.
