Default Who leads the NFL in tackles?

1. Patrick Willis - 88

A few spots down is our boy DJ Williams with 75, tied with Ray Lewis.

DJ has more tackles than:
Nick Barnett
DeMeco Ryans
Kirk Morrison
Derrick Brooks
Donnie Edwards
Brian Urlacher
Lance Briggs
AJ Hawk

There are others down that list, but statistically, DJ is coming along. I just want to see him decleat a few guys or get a personal foul for roughing someone or starting a fight. Maybe he could poke someone in the eye or bite an ear off...

I'd rather see him make some game changing plays every now and again.

I'm not a DJ hater, and I think it's only fair to judge his performance after the season is over, but he needs to make some plays, imo.

I'm just happy that DJ looks like he's getting adjusted to the new position. Still not perfect, but it's only been a few games. Still I'd really like to see him at WLB and Ian gone.

If on 1st and 2nd down you stop the offense for a loss of 2 each time but give up 30 on 3rd down, how good are you really doing?

I think the issue with him is that he's getting better but is just out of place too much still, making bad decisions, etc

It would have definitely been the right move. We could have added the best offensive player in the SEC and the best defensive player in the SEC in successive drafts.

True, but what if we fix our D-line next year with a top tier DT (or two)?

Not for the cost. Willis would have been awesome here, but unless none of the other picks work out, which I doubt, then it would have been too much to throw at one guy. After the combine he was pretty much out of our grasp.

I really want to hop on the DJ sucks bandwagon, but I'm just not ready yet. These next seven games will go far in figuring his future at the position.

Yeah that's the plan. Get some great DTs to anchor that line.

Dj is 17th in solo tackles, so let's not get all excited.

Also, Denver has had the most rushing plays run against them in the League, but DJ is 17th in solo tackles and 7th in total tackles. That's actually kind of pathetic.

I can't figure out the DJ apologist thing around here. Here's a guy who's done nothing but barely live up to lowered expectations, and people just can't quit coming up with creative ways to defend his very average play. I could understand it if it were a once-great player, but the guy's never been anything beyond a warm body out there... usually worse.

I think DJ is gonna do great for us at MLB, as he's shown alot of potential and a nasty streak we haven't really seen out of him before.

As with any team running Bates' system, it all starts at DT and right now we are kinda weak there. Once that improves it will send ripples through this defense, especially for DJ.

Patrick Willis was out of our range before he was even a senior. Anyone who watched him play at Ole Miss would know this.

If anyone thinks that Denver will sort it's DT positions out in 1 offseason then think again. They've been attempting to sort it for nigh on 10 years but as most know flinging **** at a wall rarely sticks. Have a look at the turnover at the position over the last few years.

It used to be we'd give players a season or 2 to justify their worth. Now they're that bad some of them only last 8 games.

Personally I think the LB situation is even more critical. Webster and Gold must go, IMO they are the weakest links on that defense. DJ is an average linebacker - starter quality but by no means a great or even very good player.

Yeah he has definately played better last couple games but I would dare wager that Denver's D is in the top 5 D's for offensive plays ran against.

I disagree. Even average linebackers can look pretty good with a great D-line. And, the D-line also makes the game easier on safeties and corners.

Chill out dude, I was just looking at the tackles list. It speaks for itself. Willis will be a stud. DJ has the same number of plays as Ray Lewis and more tackles than Urlacher or Briggs. Just let the data speak.

His rookie year was much more than a "warm body" experience. I am not an apologist (necessarily) but how many other linebackers have you seen that excel at all linebacking potitions? Especially when those three switches have come in three years? It's not easy, and its hard to figure out whether to blame DJ, or what the coaches have asked of him.
