Default Larry Johnson out for the season?

FOX 31 in Colorado is reporting it. Not the most credible source, but it's out there.

PFT picked up on the story, but it sounds like it's just a bad injury at this point and nobody has confirmed the "out for the season" part

POSTED 6:22 p.m. EST; UPDATED 6:25 p.m. EST, November 6, 2007

L.J. DONE FOR THE YEAR?

FOX 31 in Denver reports that Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the year.

The report contains no wiggle room; it states as an item of hard news that L.J. is done.

Per the report, the news that Johnson has a broken bone in his foot was confirmed "by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation."

The Chiefs are 4-4 and tied for the lead in the AFC West. They host the 3-5 Broncos on Sunday.

UPDATE: A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that tests are not complete, and the team does not yet know the extent of the injury. For now, the unofficial position seems to be the team is unable to make any judgment about Johnson's availability beyond this week.

Next week is plenty for me. I hope he isn't done for the year. I'd like to see the Chiefs only narrowly miss the playoffs, so they don't get a high draft choice.

Wait, didn't "somebody close to the situation" also "confirm" that Jay Cutler had a broken ankle and was done for the year too?

It doesn't matter because we can't stop the run.

That said, if this is true anyone with a mouse and a below-average internet connection could have seen this coming. Carrying the ball 400+ times means you absolutely will get hurt your next season and you absolutely will suck for the rest of your career. If you're a power runner it's a death sentence. LJ did the right thing getting his money.

He is reported as "questionable" this weekend. KC needs a better OL though or it won't matter who is carrying the ball

Don't sell yourself short. You get to play us this weekend. That's got to be exciting with the potential to pad those rushing stats so much.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the play that he was injured on.

His carries last season had absolutely nothing to do with how he was injured Sunday.

If you read the body language of Herm Edwards, you can see that if he's not out for the year, he is out for a good chunk of the rest of the year.

IMO

Thats too bad for LJ... if this report is true.

As for KC who cares. I could put up 100+ on our defense... and i'm a long ways from being in "playing shape"

We were saying it all offseason Kaylore. Johnson took alot of shots in a very short time, it's not surprising he's sucked this year and finally took a seemingly serious injury.

I am scared how ESPN is going to crazy over the extraordinary comeback of Priest Holmes.

I can hear it already.

"They thought he was done. They had him buried. But like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.... Holmes makes a comeback as starter... and runs for 450 yards....."

Yes...I can totally see that...its going to horribly embarassing seeing a 34 year old washed up Priest take us to the woodshed. Ugh.

LJ is injured? It's obviously Shanahan the GM's fault for not motivating him enough.

OLs seem to find their run blocking mojo against the Broncos.
