This wasn't the first time the Chargers were talking about missed tackles.
"I think you can try to blame it on Norv Turner, but I would love to see him go out and try to tackle somebody right now," Merriman said. How about blaming it on defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell? "I would love to see Ted try to tackle somebody right now," Merriman said. "The 11 players on the field are the ones who have to tackle. The coaches cannot go out and tackle for us." Merriman once said that tackling is an attitude. "If we don't have an attitude by now, we're going to have problems," Merriman said. "This game is played with an attitude, this game is played violent, this game is played with aggression, and if you don't have that, you're not going to be a successful football player or a successful team. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...o&confirm=true my concern...would Shanahan's glass eye pop out if he tried to tackle someone? |

This might have been one of the rare times where the guy they faced in practice wasnt as good as the guy they played against in a game.

I get a strange feeling that the "Old Guard" running backs in the NFL are on the decline. Alexander, Johnson, and LT have all had their best years and are on the decline. The new breed lead by AP, Willie Parker, Joseph Addai and Marshawn Lynch are the new top dogs.

I've seen her twice in person. Both times Merriman was there. The first time on the red carpet of the ESPYs. Second time was back stage at BETs Ballers. When I saw her I was going to take me shot (I wouldn't of had much of a chance, but I was going to try anyway). Then I saw Merriman a few feet away, and decided that I probably shouldn't try to hit on Vida. Damn football players and all their money and fame.

No doubt about it. AD is so much better than everyone else at running the football, its impossible for anyone else to make up for it in other ways.

LT and LJ aren't in decline. LT's numbers are down this year because he's a victim of Norv's vanilla playcalling And both of them are playing behind offensive lines who are struggling this season. The guy who looks washed up is Alexander. I never bought into his hype. His glory days were behind arguably the best o-line in the NFL at the time. Once Hutch left and Walter Jones aged a bit, his production went into the toilet. I think Cedric Benson runs harder than Alexander now. The guys you listed above are definitely ready to take over. I'd add Ronnie Brown. I think Marion Barber and Michael Turner have great shots to become superstars next year as well when they finally get their turn to become feature backs. |
