I'm looking at a trip there in June. It's going to be pretty much a party trip for a friend and myself.
Any suggestions on where to stay? The Palms Treasure Island Any others? Please, any advice and tips would be nice/ |

I've been to Vegas twice. Once was in a 'cheaper' hotel off the strip. Honestly, it was pretty crappy. I've also stayed on the strip, it was the better experience. If you can, rent a car. The hotels have free parking (they want you to gamble at their casino), and it just opens up more to you IMO.
Palms is pretty happening. So much to do without even leaving the hotel. I wanna hit one of their pool parties one of these days. Theres a few places with cheap beer, you don't have to shell out $5 for one. Wish I could tell you the name of one I did find, but I was pretty trashed at that point and the girl I met had some hard A in her purse. If you want to go to any of the buffets, ask the locals where they eat. Anything with 'Station' at the end of it kicks ass (ex. Palace Station). There are plenty of crappy $17 buffets out there. I'm sure there are quite a few Vegas vets who can shell out more advice here. God luck with your trip! |

Lived in Vegas for 12 years in my youth. It was a great experience.
I have to say the top spots downtown for clubbing are plentiful. I haven't been to Vegas in awhile and it changes so fast it is unreal. I am going back there this Friday. As far as clubs go, they just opened up a new club at the Luxor, I hear thats pretty good. But the best I hear so far is the Skin Pool lounge at the Palms, people go skinny dipping and you can rent a private cabana. The Beach is another solid recommendation by Lynchmob. Of Course you might want to check out the Palomino club. ![]() |

When it comes to Vegas it's all about $$$$$, and how much you want to spend. I have been to Vegas at least 15 times, and when money was no object you could buy the finest entertainment food, clubs, drinks etc. If you don't want to go broke, limit yourself on gambling and stay at Harrahs. Decent hotel and kind of center on the strip. You can go to alot of places from that location. Do not buy club passes from Cab Drivers thinking your saving money they usually rip you off(Expired tickets, fake tickets etc). If they give you the passes for free, then you want to check the clubs out.

I've been to Vegas a couple times and plan on going again this X-Mas.
Here's what I can tell you, in my experience: Stay on the strip. With that in mind, use a service like hotels.com or something else to find a cheap place. Personally, I like middle of the strip or north strip. Middle of the strip makes walking around easy. You don't necesarily have to stay at the nicest hotel, especially if you're going to be plastered drunk and just pass out in your room anyways. Since you want to party: First thing to do is go to the gift shop on the first floor of the lobby and stock up on booze. If you want to gamble, they'll give you free drinks. But if you want to walk around, go clubbing, etc, get drunk in your room first on the cheap. As far as clubbing goes, I haven't had much experience with it, since I like to gamble and drink more. But on my girl's 21st birthday we tried to get into one and waited in line for a long time, and eventually said screw it. It seems like if you want to club, get wherever you want to go early in the night. Also, I've heard that club hopping doesn't work, since you'll end up waiting in more and more lines as the night goes on. And just be sure to bring money. Me personally, for the months heading up to a vegas trip, I try to save save save. It's no fun going broke. Save up, and have enough cash to blow on food, drink, gambling, random horse races or sporting events, etc. |

Thanks for the tip. I don't think i'll have to worry about going broke (deployment money) plus i'm going to be saving up to the point I leave.
Hotel/Flight is going to cost about $850 for 5 nights. I'm not sure how much i'll spend there. I plan on gambling, clubbing, and mostly trying to drink for free. |

My cousin can back this one up. Good looking tourist but i cannot say they arent with diseases. That is what protection is for. THe Beach is a fun club. It has been around for awhile as I used to go there! Soooo many expensive places but i always have liked the bar scene at Hard Rock. |

I haven't been there since 1999...so I'm not going to elaborate on what is by now outdated information. I will tell you that both times I was there I stayed at the Imperial Palace on the strip due to it's central location (someone earlier mentioned Harrahs, the IP is right next door) and while it's not the most glamourous casino on the strip, the Riviera is the one I had the most fun at both times.

It seems like we're both wanting to stay at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. I hear it's in a really nice location and it's a decent place to stay. Not many bad reviews at Tripadvisor.com.
I went to TI website and packaged hotel/flight and it came out to be 773.58 per person, not bad at all! |

Treasure Island was originally opened by Steve Wynn. He had a theory of more employess to guests then most hotel owners. TI even though they have changed hands still operates under his thoery of customer service. They really treat you well at TI and it's not so big you get lost trying to walk around in it. IMO it's a great place to stay. The upgrade my room a lot when I go. Last time I was there they put me in a petite suite for same price.

It really depends on what you are looking to do. Clubs are so 'in the moment' Pure at Ceasars and Tao at The Venetian are hot ones, but LAX at Luxor I guess is the new hot spot. I still like Ghost Bar at The Palms.
As for package deals, if you gamble a lot, book your airfare separate from the hotel. I find its easier to get your room comped if its not included in some package. I pretty much stay at where ever is going to give me free rooms.... screw paying for rooms and food in Vegas..when I can piss it all away at the tables. |

It's an easy walk to Fashion show mall, Venetian, Ceasars Palace, Riviera and Margaritaville! There are a few nice clubs over at Venetian and also at Ceasar's Palace. You could hit those early and then finish off at Tangarine since you would be a guest at TI! Ohhhh, now I want to go back! Fun fun memories! |

True!
Although last time I went, the only time I won any money was on Saturday night when I was hammered drunk at blackjack. Cards started getting hot for some reason. Craps has hosed me the last few times I've been though. Sad! |

Pretty good tips here for all genres and groups. This place has it all, you just need to find your 'type' of fun. If it's your first time, it won't be your last so don't try to do it all in one trip. Just take your time and enjoy! Some of the best times I've had in this town are no doubt at the tables with complete idiot strangers having a great time. The clubs can be deceiving....every girl in there looks good then you get outside and, well...depending on your alcohol level... I don't club or drink so I can't stand the scene anymore but there are some amazing things to see outside of Vegas - like Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. I have a tour business if your interested in some reasonable 'tours' to the outside areas. If not, I totally understand also. Check out the website above as it will give you some good tips. I wouldn't rent a car for any reason unless you're planning to drive around - the Strip is too crowded during the summer months but can be fun 'cruising' if you have a nice convertable ride. I would recommend taxis and using the interhotel trams to get around, much cooler both visually and temperature wise as well. Any specific questions you got just hammer away! |
