I dont go by that bull**** measuring stick that the NFL uses to measure a unit's ranking among it's 32 members, i.e yards gained and yards conceded.
Points scored and points conceded at the end of the day mean the difference between wins and losses. Denver have scored 126 pts and conceded 227 to date which is the worst differential in the league outside the 0-8 Rams, even the Phins are better. Despite the promise shown by our offense moving up and down the field it doesn't mean **** if they cant put the ball in the endzone and that has been one of the biggest disappointments for me this season. Injuries have played their part in decimating our receivers and offensive line and now it looks like our hotshot QB's out but even when all were fit and well we couldn't get it done against the Bills (2nd string), Raiders and Jags. Infact the only game we've looked in sync this year on offense was against the Steelers. One could say the problem has been the lack of possessions the offense has had due to long prolonged drives on the ground from opposing teams but is that just another excuse ![]() More frustratingly we have one of the top 5 3rd down percentage offenses in the league. Even more frustrating is the fact we have the grand total of 3 rushing TD's halfway through the season. For a team well known for it's ground game and producing 1000 yard backs out of nothing why is our best goal-line back not even dressed on a Sunday Does he have a concussion or is he just not that well rated![]() We have all witnessed how bad the defense is but I wonder if any of the historians out there can fathom how bad this D is in terms of conceding points compared to past Denver D's. The team is currently on course to concede 450 plus points this year which is more than I can ever remember in a season. Last edited by eddie mac; 11-05-2007 at 02:51 PM.. |

With this team, we need a bye week every other week. It worked against the Steelers...

The o is doing a lot of things right, was moving the chains dang good - except for yesterday. But eddie is correct, you have to score.
Something that really irritates me is the slow pace of the O when they are behind. They lollygag and dawdle at the same pace like they were ahead by 3 TD's. That's a real headscratcher. The D pts allowed is not gonna change all year. If the team wants to win enough to make the playoffs - which is still not impossible - they have to score 28 or more per game I think. |

You're quite right Alec not a lot of difference in terms of offense 141 pts last year compared to the 126 this year and the same old redzone problems abeit they weren't as critical in the first 8 games because we were playing good redzone defense. Oh what we'd give for that defense now that went a stretch of 5 games only giving up 26 points and 2 TD's.
