Default Missed False Start Call

I haven't seen this mentioned in many threads. I am sure its in the game day thread but probably burried. But how could the refs miss the false start by two lineman for Pitt on the drive where they tied the game.

I mean it was so blatant that even NBC flashed the flag graphic. I was pretty shocked about that. Glad it didn't determine the outcome of the game.

Well, there were other infractions that they blatantly ignored as well. Najah Davenport pushing Big Ben from behind over the pile for the first down. I thought it was illegal for any player to assist a ball carrier by pushing from behind or pulling. The procedure penalty was ridiculous. I saw it and started yelling but there were no flags.

Great game though. Cutler played great as did many others.

Only in college. It's legal in the NFL.

Man, I thought that false start could have slowed down their O on that drive too. I was pissed.

Not to mention that they missed at least two holding calls (on Pitt) during the game as well as a block in the back on a punt. oh well. . . We came out victorious.

Why did the refs wait so long to blow the whistle on the QB sneak by Rothlesberger on 4th down? His progress was stopped a full 3-5 seconds, but they still let the play continue. Shanahan was piseed on the sideline.

Usually, the calls even out. But it had to be embarrasing for that ref crew to miss 2 lineman going early on the same side of the ball. If it was a small twitch or something, yeah ok, but they were standing straight up by the time the ball was snapped. That's frickin pathetic. Makes you wonder just what in the hell that line judge was looking at because it sure wasn't the Steelers linemen................lol

I agree on that one. He was clearly stopped for several seconds.

The false start was hilarious. since we won of course.

Just another highlight clip of NFL refs watching the game instead of Calling it.

what was Madden drinking last night? Absinthe? His whole take on the Graham fumble was like listening to my drunk Uncle at a family reunion....

As bad as NBC coverage is, they were all over it showing the flag graphic and bringing it to Al Michael's attention. I was definitely dropping the f- bombs cause that would have made it 3rd and very long and wiped off a huge first down for the Steelers. Oh well, thanks to that spry young 15 year veteran it just didn't matter.

What was the Lynch penalty on the sidelines for? They never show controversal replays at the stadium.

The "refs" said he hit him out of bounds, it was more of a push, however, the reciever was in the "white" of the out of bounds. That call, could have gone either way. All in all, I felt the refs, and madden tilted in the steeler direction. I used to like madden, don't like him so much anymore...dman

*whoever else said it though, calls tend to even out, well they're probably correct. Not necessarily over a game though, over a season.

He was too busy blowing a member of the Steeler coaching staff.

When the play ran live I thought I may have been tripping, because no flags were thrown. But the reply showed that those two clearly moved early. That would have made it 3rd and 15, and would have made it harder for the Steelers to convert. At that point in the game they would have punted on 4th down.

The false start miss was terrible. The Lynch call was a 50/50 call that I can see why they called it, can't be too upset about it.

I also thought they made the right call on the Rothelisberger sneak. I felt when I watched the replay that his progress was continuing the entire time. Those plays are so close anyway, that it's really a 50/50 shot if you get the spot or not. One linesman ran in and had the spot behind the first down, and the other one ran in with the spot past the first down and it looked like they just split the difference which resulted in a first down by the length of the football. It's a crapshoot at that point.

Yeah it was number 77 who came up early, it was an easy call.

But we did get those two offsides calls on the winning drive.

Terrible calls. But we got a few too.

The illegal touching by the receiver in the end zone against Pittsburgh. Bly touched the ball first and the receiver knocked it out. Legal play, the receiver was not the first to touch it.

Moved Pittsburgh out of FG range I believe.

The worst part about that missed false start by two not one, but two linemen was that it was a 3rd and 8, i think, that they converted on that drive. Dumb a$$ Madden thinking that was a fumble was horrible too, and how f-ing long do they let a fourth down play go for after forward progress is stopped, I thought they would never blow it dead.

Other than that I loved the game , we were all-state!! GO BRONCOS!!

Nope. They declined that penalty, so it was irrelevant.

The next play, however, they were called for offensive holding, which was the one that moved them out of field goal range.

Terrible non-call. Maybe even worse than the one where the ref said the Steelers lineman "didn't mean to touch it" or something like that. What the hell was that?
