Moe, Larry and Curly on Monday Night
Yep, a thoroughly entertaining round. Early on it looked like a great game with a shootout between the Falcons and Giants but everything went south for the birds. So, with an egg on their hands our fav commentators went at it to fill air time.
We had more admiration for Peyton (though he wasn't playing that night)
We got a 'way cool' segment for Brady's off field fatherhood, because having babies with models is fabulous (should he get a medal? The kids don't even have his name.)
We got dimestore psychobabble about Eli versus Peyton and how Eli had so many issues with being the younger brother (nobody asked him, of course) his personality is a pretense you see, to shield himself from his brother's legacy. A legacy that had Peyton second fiddle to Ryan Leaf coming out of college. Duh.
Jaws pompously stated Eli would be a very good qb for ten years, but not great (thanks, Eli can now turn out the lights and go home, since his career is decided)
Moe Larry and Curly wondered if Eli would ever be great simply because of the way he 'seemed' standing in the pocket and such. They admired how he matured (shocking) and seemed to be 'getting it' as a qb (another shock).
And Tony Cornpone's spectacular "Eli Cut out Face Talking" bit where supposedly Eli 'talked' about his status versus Peyton and such.
You know, commentary is cool...but these guys are REALLY silly. It's like they go to happy hour before the telecast.

This crew is unwatchable (or unlistenable).....
The thing is...I like Jaws....he is a great analyst, and really understands the game....unlike the other 2 clowns.
Mike Tirico is trying too hard...he's almost over the top with his emotion about every friggin' play.....
And Kornholer....that guy is just pathetic. Theismann was WAAAAAY better than him....they fired the wrong guy.

Tony K is great on the radio and on PTI. But his shtick doesn't work on primetime and durning an live sporting event.
But ESPN only hires ESPN talent to work on ESPN.
I would like to see Boomer, Tommy and Merrell Hodge in the booth.
